Focus Description:

In his right hand, the magician holds an ordinary wand. Three pieces of rope are attached to it at the same distance from each other. The magician shows the audience a nickel-plated ring and asks one of them to tie the ring to the end rope. Then he quickly hides his right hand behind his back, immediately intercepts the wand with his left and shows it to the audience. Ring on the middle rope.

Focus secret:

The secret, of course, is in the stick. Take a wooden stick 500 mm long - it can be round or square in cross section. Saw it along to the middle with a thin file. And then in the middle make a transverse cut: you get another stick. Both of them need to be cleaned with sandpaper and the smaller one adjusted so that it fits snugly into the large ledge. Now nail the smaller stick in the center with a stud so that it can rotate around its axis. Attach two strings to the rotating part of the stick.

Do you understand now how a ring tied to the outermost rope can be in the middle? You just quietly rotate the smaller wand 180 degrees. The third rope serves to divert the attention of the audience.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

3D printer prints food 25.05.2013

NASA has donated money to create a device that allows you to "print" edible objects from individual nutrients. A $125 grant for the first phase of the project went to Systems & Materials Research, which positions itself as a "specialist in the development of materials and technologies for commercialization."

At the first stage, Systems & Materials Research will have to create a prototype of a device that forms dishes from layers of individual ingredients with a powdery consistency within six months. The further fate of the project will depend on the results of the first stage.

Unlike the ready-to-eat meals currently used in space flights, which lose their beneficial properties relatively quickly over time, powdered ingredients containing the nutrients necessary for a person have a long shelf life. Because of this, they are suitable for use in long-term space missions. The use of a 3D printer will make it possible to obtain a varied menu from these ingredients.
