Focus Description:

The magician makes two cards, which are firmly held by two different faces, swap places.

Focus secret:

For this trick, you need to have duplicates of one of the cards, let's say the jack of spades, and you must first arrange the deck as follows: the bottom card should be the jack of spades, the next one should be any card, for example, nine of diamonds, and above it again the jack of spades .

You come up, casually shuffling the cards (you are completely free to shuffle the entire deck above these three named cards), and end up carrying the bottom jack of spades to the top.

The bottom card will now be the nine of diamonds, and above it is another jack of spades. Lifting the pack with your left hand in such a position as to be ready to "pull back" the bottom card, you are asking to memorize the bottom card.

You bring the deck to a horizontal position and, as it were, pull out the bottom card with the middle finger of your right hand, but in reality you push it back, take the next card (Jack of Spades) and put it face down on the table, asking someone to cover it with your hand.

You then carry the other jack of spades from top to bottom (by juggling or volting) and shuffle again as before, being careful not to mix the bottom two cards.

Ask those present again to notice the bottom card (which is now the jack of spades), and pull it out again as if it were, but in reality the nine of tambourines. Lay it face down on the table as well and have someone else cover it with their hand.

Spectators are sure that the first card drawn was the nine of diamonds, and the second was the jack of spades. Now you announce that you intend to order these two cards to change places and, touching them with your wand or performing some other "mystical" ceremony, you ask those who held the cards to show them, and it turns out that the cards fulfilled your order.

Since the attention of the spectators is, of course, drawn to these two cards, you can easily hide in the palm of your hand, and then transfer to the pocket of the second jack, the spade, which is still at the bottom of the deck and can spoil the whole effect of the trick if it is discovered.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Thubber: super elastic rubber with metal properties 18.02.2017

Scientists at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a thermally conductive rubber material that could be a breakthrough in the development of soft stretchable mechanisms and electronics.

The new material, dubbed "thubber", is an electrically insulating material with the thermal conductivity of metals, the elasticity of soft, biological tissues, and can stretch to six times its original length.

"Our combination of high thermal conductivity and elasticity is particularly important for the rapid dissipation of heat in devices such as body-worn electronics or soft robots that require mechanical flexibility and stretchable functionality," the researchers say. Such materials can also be used in sportswear and medicine, energy and transportation.

The key ingredient of the new rubber is a suspension of non-toxic liquid metal microdroplets. The liquid state allows the metal to deform along with the surrounding rubber at room temperature. When the rubber is stretched, the droplets form elongated trajectories that are effective in dissipating heat. Despite the large amount of metal, the material also retains electrical insulating properties.

To demonstrate the properties of the material, the scientists attached LEDs to a strip of thubber to make a lamp that any runner can wear around their leg. The new material dissipates the heat from the diodes, which would otherwise burn a person. The researchers also created a soft robotic fish that swims with the help of a thubber tail without the help of conventional motors or gears.
