Focus Description:

In front of the audience, a magic wand is lowered into a glass filled with milk, which the performer holds vertically. The glass mysteriously hangs in the air on a stick, obediently following the magician's hand.

Focus secret:

A glass and a magic wand must be prepared in advance.

Focus Glass in the Air

Stepping back a third of the height from the top edge of the glass (preferably made of plastic), drill two holes with a diameter of 0,2 mm on opposite sides.

Pass a fishing line with a diameter of 0,1-0,12 mm into these holes and secure with knots. The fishing line passed through the holes forms a kind of double rigid support that is invisible at close range.

At the junction of white and black colors, two nails are driven in near one end of the magic wand. The nail heads are filed off from the bottom and sides with a file, forming a hook at the head. After this operation is completed, the nails should protrude from the stick by approximately 1,5 mm. To disguise them as a wand, they must be coated with black varnish.

During the demonstration, the performer takes an empty glass from the table and shows it to the audience from all sides. Next, milk is poured into the glass to a level several millimeters higher than the thread. Then he takes the stick and, holding it vertically with the nails down, lowers it into the glass between two fishing lines to the bottom, and then slowly lifts the stick and turns it 90 degrees, bringing the nails under the fishing lines.

The right hand slowly rises up, holding the stick with the glass hanging from it. The magician moves his free hand under the glass and over the hand holding the wand with the glass to show that there are no pendants or strings holding the glass. Then the performer takes the glass with his hand and pulls out the stick, having first turned it and removed it from the engagement.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Motherboards based on the H81 chipset from Gigabyte 01.09.2013

Gigabyte has offered users motherboards based on the H81 chipset for Haswell processors. Recall that earlier boards based on the Z87 chipset for enthusiasts were announced, and now on the H81, aimed at entry-level users.

The most interesting thing is that there is support for 4K resolution via HDMI or DisplayPort, the On / Off Charge function has been added, which allows you to charge your smartphone or tablet even during sleep mode or the computer is turned off (software shutdown).

The boards implement the unique GIGABYTE UEFI DualBIOS technology, which consists in the fact that the board contains two microcircuits with recorded copies of the BIOS. This helps protect the BIOS microcode from damage. The causes of damage can be viruses, failed PC components, overclocking errors and voltage drops at the time of updating the BIOS.

The LAN and USB ports are equipped with enhanced ESD protection. Each port is paired with a special protective filter that can withstand severe ESD, protecting the system from power surges and during thunderstorms, according to Gigabyte.

The company says that the new products use only solid capacitors and Low RDS (on) field-effect transistors with reduced channel resistance, capable of operating at high temperatures for more than 50 hours.

The H81 line consists of eight motherboards, four of which you can already purchase in online stores (GA-H81-D3, GA-H81M-S2PV, GA-H81M-S2PH, GA-H81M-DS2).
