EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Chrysanthemum in buttonhole. Focus secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The performer appears on stage with a white chrysanthemum in the buttonhole of his jacket lapel and begins to show the trick. He lights a cigarette, takes a few puffs, and immediately puffs out a puff of smoke. Smoke covers the flower in the buttonhole for a few seconds and immediately dissipates. And the flower in the buttonhole turned blue instead of white. The performer again takes a few puffs and releases a cloud of smoke on the blue flower. When the smoke clears, viewers see that the same flower has turned bright red (Fig. 54, A).
Focus secret: The whole secret of the focus is in the flower. Two metal disks with a diameter of 3-4 cm are taken. One of them is divided in half into two equal semicircles. This pair of half-discs is connected along the entire cut line by a steel spring. Thus, two disks are still obtained, only one of them can now be folded in half and opened again under the action of a spring. Let's put the folding disk aside for a while and look into the details of the solid disk. Two holes with a diameter of 2-2,5 mm are drilled in it at the same level - in the left and right parts of the upper half, at a distance of 1,5-2 cm from each other. On the reverse side of this half of the disk, a lock-pin is attached, with which the flower is pinned to the jacket - this is the back wall of the disk. Along the middle of the front wall of the disk, a line dividing it horizontally in half, a metal rod passes, which is attached to the plate at the central point (Fig. 54, B and C). Now you can return to the folding disk. It is folded in half and loops are attached at both ends along the fold line, where the spring passes. With the help of these loops, the folding disk is attached to the rod of the solid one - the loops of one are put on the rod of the other from both ends (Fig. 54, D). On the upper movable half-disk in the same places as on the solid one, the same hole is drilled on the right, and a spike with a hole at the end is soldered on the left. On the lower movable half-disk, on its inner side, a spike is soldered to the right, also with a hole at the end (Fig. 54, E). It's time to designate with serial numbers all the half-disks of the metal base of the flower (Fig. 54, E). The first semi-disk is the upper fixed one, with two holes and a pin on the reverse side. The second half-disk is upper movable, with a hole on the right, with a spike on the left. The third half-disk is the lower movable one with a spike on the right. And, finally, the fourth half-disk is motionless, without any secret details. Now three multi-colored paper flowers of a round shape are taken, which can be folded into a flat half-disk and opened into a ball. Then a red paper flower is glued on the first - the upper fixed half-disk and on the second - the upper movable one. Now raise the second upper movable half-disk and press it tightly against the first upper fixed half-disk so that the spike of the second half-disk, having passed through the left hole of the fixed first half-disk, comes out from its reverse side. In order for the second half-disk to be securely held in this position, a metal rod is taken, one end of which is bent with a hook. The hook-rod is put on from the bottom up into the eye of the first stud removed, and the free end of the rod remains at the top under the half-disk. Then, a blue flower is glued to the other side of the second movable half-disk and, accordingly, to the side lying below the third lower movable half-disk. The third half-disk also rises and is pressed tightly against the walls of the second and first half-disk so that its spike passes through the right holes of these half-disk and exits from the back side of the first half-disk. Naturally, here you will also need a second hook rod, which is put on the eye of the second right spike in the same way as the first. The free end of the second rod-hook is also displayed above the half-disk. A white flower is glued onto the remaining two sides of the third movable half-disk and the fourth lower fixed one (Fig. 54, G and 3). It remains only to pin the flower to the lapel of the jacket. The focus demonstration begins in the same way as described at the beginning. At the moment when the smoke covers the flower, the performer, standing with his right shoulder to the audience, imperceptibly and quickly presses the first secret hook-rod with his left hand and immediately turns to face the auditorium. Freed from the hook, the third movable half-disk falls down, and the audience sees a blue flower that has opened in the buttonhole. Then the performer blows another cloud of smoke. At this moment, he presses with the same left hand on the second secret rod-hook. This time, under the action of a spring, the released second movable half-disk falls down and reveals the last, red, flower. Author: Akopyan A.A.
