Focus Description:

The performer asks one of the women sitting in the auditorium to give him a ring, brooch or earrings for a while, having previously marked them: tie a thread, ribbon or just wrap it with paper. After that, the performer takes the object and holds it in the palm of his left hand. Returning to the stage, he goes to the side wings and takes a small parcel from the assistant's hands. The magician makes a movement with his left hand, as if throwing an object clamped in his palm, and opens his palm - the audience sees that the object has disappeared.

The performer shakes the parcel several times, and everyone hears that something is rattling inside it. He invites a spectator to the stage, who kindly lent her ring, and gives her this package with a request to examine it. The parcel is carefully wrapped and tied several times.

When the external examination is completed, the performer invites the spectator to unpack the parcel. A cheerful revival begins in the hall, as the parcel is packed in an endless number of scarves. Under the handkerchiefs there are several pouches, each of which is tightly tied with a ribbon. The last pouch contains a box wrapped in paper. Having removed several sheets of paper from it, the mistress of the ring finally gets to the box, which is tied crosswise with an elastic band. The spectator hurriedly removes the elastic band and opens the box. It contains her ring.

Focus secret:

The props of this trick are a rectangular candy box, pouches made of colored material, a dozen colored scarves and the same number of pieces of ribbon for bandaging the box. In addition, you will need a piece of elastic and a couple of small sheets of paper.

The secret of the focus lies in a metal tube 20 cm long and 20-25 mm in diameter.

Before demonstrating the trick, the parcel is “charged”: the performer, having slightly opened the lid of the box, puts a tube 1-1,5 cm into one of its corners, after which he pulls the box crosswise with a rubber ring (Fig. 14, A). Now you can start packing the "package". First, the box is placed in a pouch and its tape is tightened on the tube (the tube must remain outside during the entire packaging process). Then the box in a pouch is wrapped in paper and tied with a ribbon, and then the "parcel" is wrapped in one of the scarves and again in paper, which is also tied with a ribbon. Now the "package" is placed in the second pouch, tightened with a ribbon, again carefully wrapped in all available scarves and paper. The pouch should always be tied with a ribbon every time.

When the packaging of the "package" is completed, it is handed over to the assistant. During the demonstration of the trick, the assistant stands with the "package" in the side wings. The performer, taking from one of the women a ring or a small brooch that can freely pass through a metal tube, clamps it in the palm of his left hand. On the way to the stage, he imperceptibly shifts the ring into his right hand, and squeezes his left palm into a fist and raises it above his head. Approaching the side stage, where an assistant is waiting for him, the performer stands facing the auditorium and, extending his right hand behind the scenes, asks for a "package". At this time, he lowers the ring into the tube. The ring slips into the box, and the assistant quickly pulls the tube out of the "package". Freed from the tube, the lid of the box closes tightly thanks to a stretched elastic band. All these manipulations must be done in such a way that they do not arouse any suspicion among the audience.

Taking the "package", the performer makes a movement with his left hand, as if throwing a ring towards the "package" in his right hand.

Then he invites the owner of the ring to the stage and invites her to unpack the "package".

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The beam attracts objects 24.01.2013

A group of physicists led by Pavel Zemanek from the Institute of Scientific Instruments at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno has developed an experimental prototype of such a device capable of attracting and moving large enough microparticles. As the researchers note, today there are several theoretical approaches to creating an attracting beam. Some of them are based on already existing developments in the field of optical manipulation of matter, such as "light tongs" or optical traps. Others use a laser beam, "swirled" in a special way, or a combination of several streams of light.

Zemanek and colleagues took the latter approach. According to them, it allows you to capture fairly large particles, whose dimensions can reach 300-400 nm. This favorably distinguishes it from other types of "attractive beams" capable of moving only individual atoms or nanoparticles a few nanometers in size.

The invention of Zemanek and his colleagues consists of two lasers, a special mirror and a computer that controls the polarization and other characteristics of the emitters. In this case, the mirror is not a necessary component, but it helps the tractor beam to lift the captured objects, thereby increasing their maximum possible mass. During operation of the device, laser beams with a specially selected frequency and polarization capture the particle under study. At this moment, their polarization and some other characteristics of the laser beam remain the same, as a result of which the position of the particle is fixed. To move the particle in an arbitrary direction, scientists change the polarization of the beam and the position of one of the lasers.

Zemanek's group tested their invention by attempting to "catch" and move one of several polystyrene balls, ranging in diameter from 100 to 410 nm, floating in water. According to the physicists, their invention worked well - on average, scientists were able to move the ball 25-30 microns from its original position. This result is a record for devices of this kind. According to scientists, the transportation range can be easily increased by increasing the power of the laser beam. The authors of the article continued the experiment by sorting the balls by size.

Zemanek and his colleagues suggest that this device in its current form can already be used as one of the components of microscopes, allowing scientists to catch individual particles of matter or living cells and move them in the right direction. In addition, further development of this technology could become the basis for "cosmic" tractor beams, with which astronauts will capture faulty satellites or asteroid fragments.
