EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Candle-traveler. Focus secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The artist looks through the receiver into the auditorium, suddenly, noticing something, he puts the receiver on the table and goes to the audience. Approaching one of the spectators, the magician asks him to stand up. Then, quickly putting his hand into one of the inside pockets of the spectator's costume, he takes out a burning candle from there and, covering the flame from the wind, returns to the stage, extinguishes the "candle" and puts it on the table. Props and trick secret. The whole secret of this number is in the props, that is, in the candle. The candle in its structure should be an exact copy of the "candle" that disappeared in the previous issue. You can make it from any material and pour it over with hot stearin after painting, then the "candle" will look like a real one. The main secret part of the "candle" is a very small lighter with a strong wheel that gives large sparks (Fig. 235). A wick pre-soaked in aviation gasoline is inserted into a hole drilled inside the "candle". The lighter is attached motionlessly so that the sparks from it fall exactly on the wick.
The difficulty of this number is to put the "candle" in the spectator's pocket. Most often, magicians use "replants" for this, that is, they specially plant people in the auditorium, from whom they get the things they need during the trick. But this is usually used by professional magicians, and it is inconvenient for an amateur performing in front of his friends. Therefore, another method will have to be found. You can put a "candle" inside the left sleeve, attaching it with a rubber strip to your arm. Approaching the viewer, unbutton the buttons on his jacket with your right hand and, moving the hem of the jacket to the side, come close to the viewer, fixing his attention on your right hand. At this time, reach into his pocket with your left hand and immediately lower the “candle” there. Then immediately take out your left hand and, as if continuing to look for something, put your right hand into your pocket, light the "candle" and slowly take it out. After showing the "candle" to the audience, quickly return to the stage, covering the lighter with your hand, as if you want to protect the flame from the wind. The second no less good way is to hide the "candle" under the right side of the vest. Approaching the viewer, you need to unbutton the jacket, take the left floor and, approaching him closely, under the cover of this floor, remove the "candle" from under the vest. Then imperceptibly raise it, light it up and take it out as if from the viewer's pocket. You can find other ways, as well as come up with another design for a self-igniting "candle". A "candle" can be ignited from small electrical elements, then a small spiral should be made near the wick, which will glow from the current when the batteries are turned on. Experiment, it will bring you great benefit - it will develop your abilities in the design of focal equipment. Author: Vadimov A.A.
