Focus Description:

A small stand on three low legs with a thin meter-long stick inserted into it is brought onto the stage and placed.

The performer picks up a ball the size of a soccer ball, beautifully painted with stars, comets, and planets. There is a hole in the middle of the ball. The ball can be put on a stick. The performer shows the ball to the audience and says:

- This thing, like everything that is in my hands, has magical properties. For example, this ball is called the “horoscope ball” for good reason. He can answer the viewer's questions and even predict fate if desired.

All this the performer says in a light joking manner.

Having shown the ball to the audience, the illusionist puts it on a stick mounted in a stand (Fig. 97). Then, moving away from the ball, he explains that this object cannot speak, but it can only answer two words: “yes” and “no,” and even counts to a hundred. when the ball needs to say “yes”, it knocks once, “no” - twice.

The performer asks the ball several questions, to which the ball readily and immediately responds with a knock. Among the questions there are many funny ones that the public willingly laughs at. They also end the display of the ball with a funny question.

Here is an example of a final question.

Performer (puts his hand on the shoulder of the boy). Did I put my hand on the woman's shoulder?

Ball (hits two times). Executor. No. Right. So I put my hand on the man's? Steam (hits twice). Executor. Not again? So who did I put my hand on the shoulder? Rice. 97 ball (rises halfway and remains in this position). Executor. Ah, I understand. To a young man? Ball (hits once).

Executor. Yes. Correctly. Is this young man studying? Ball (hit once).

Executor. Yes. Right. What are these successes? Ball (rises and sways in place up and down). Executor. Understand. Understand. Shar is embarrassed to say.

Ball (hit once).

Executor. Yes. Well, of course, yes. Does that mean he studies hard?

Ball (hit once).

Executor. Yes. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Maybe he even has two grades? Ball (hits once).

Executor. Yes. There are twos. And how many are there? Ball (beats several times).

The performer (counts) ... seven, eight, nine, ten. Enough, enough. (Runs up to the ball and, stopping it, removes it. The ball jumps in his hands.)

- Young man, I don’t believe the ball, it probably made a mistake or got damaged. I don't believe you have bad grades.

With a skillful selection of questions, this number causes a lot of laughter and is very fun.

This trick requires the illusionist to have wit and the ability to carry on a conversation with the audience. For an amateur, you need to write some witty questions and answers in advance.

The whole number should be easy, relaxed and very fun.

Props:

A hollow ball measuring 20 cm with a hole in the middle - a pin on a stand is passed into it (Fig. 112, W).

Stand (Fig. 112, P) with a pin on which the ball is put on.

A strong nylon or nylon black thread H, which is passed through the hollow pin inside, through the stand and along the rollers P, through the leg of the stand and goes behind the scenes. A ring is attached to the end of it, by which you can pull the thread. The second end of the thread is released outward, through a specially cut path in the pin and ends with a hook K, which, when the thread is tensioned, can lift the ball up and lower it down.

Whole hoop. A hoop from an old Viennese chair is suitable.

Focus secret:

The secret is clear from Fig. 112 and from the description of accessories we have just given.

The ball Ш is extruded from thin brass or copper. You can also make it from papier-mâché. A brass tube T of such a diameter is inserted into the middle of the ball that it can slide freely, without friction, along the pin. This axial tube is soldered at its ends to round, ball-shaped plates O, made so that the ball does not crush on the stand P when struck. The ball is beautifully painted with oil varnish paints, stars, comets, the moon and the planet Saturn are depicted on it.

Stand P is made of hard wood. To prevent it from moving during operation, a piece of lead is embedded in it; in addition, its legs are installed in brackets prepared in advance in the floor; This ensures complete immobility. One of the legs is hollow inside, for passing thread N. A pin, hollow inside, is inserted into the stand, and the thread is passed through it. To prevent the thread from rubbing at the points where it exits the pin, rollers P are inserted at the bends. At the top of the pin, the thread is released outward, and a hook K is attached to its end, which raises and lowers the ball. Make sure that the thread does not encounter sharp corners along its path, but slides easily and freely along the rollers in the pin and stand. After the ball is put on the pin, plug G is inserted into the end of the latter.

The act goes as follows: three brackets are nailed to the floor of the stage in advance, which will not allow the stand to move when it is placed between them. The thread is also guided in advance into the pin and stand, brought out through the leg, from here it is imperceptibly pulled behind the scenes, from where it can be pulled by the ring at the right moment.

The entire installation of the apparatus on stage should occur quickly and unnoticeably. In addition, you need to choose the appropriate lighting to hide the thread as best as possible. A ring of thread can also be dropped discreetly into a hole in the floor of the stage, and an assistant can give answers from under the floor.

Before starting the performance, the performer, after showing the ball to the audience, puts it on the pin, making sure that hook K (see Fig. 112) touches the ball well. Then, having closed the ball with cork G, the illusionist runs the ring around the ball, over the pin and on the side, proving that the ball is not suspended in any way and that there is nothing on top that would set it into action.

Then there is a demonstration of the trick. At the end of the performance, the performer immediately removes the ball from the pin, and the assistant quickly takes the stand backstage. To avoid detection of the thread, an assistant can discreetly cut it at the leg and, taking the stand, pull the remainder behind the scenes.

In order for the ball to bounce in your hands, you need to throw it up imperceptibly, with a snap of your finger.

The performance is designed for the performer’s ability to have a fun and relaxed conversation with the audience. Another way is also possible: leave the entire conversation to the host of the program, carefully rehearsing all the questions and answers with him.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

liquid lens 05.06.2004

The Dutch firm "Philips" has created a zoom lens based on the property of an oil drop to spread or concentrate under the influence of an electrical voltage.

Previously, Philips used the same effect, but on a miniature scale, to create a paper-thin television screen. A drop of aqueous electrolyte and a drop of oil are placed in a glass cylinder. Liquids do not mix; a flat interface appears between them. But it is worth applying tension to the ends of the cylinder, as a drop of oil bends, turning into a convex lens.

When the poles are reversed, the oil recedes, forming a concave surface. By smoothly changing the voltage and its sign, it is possible to obtain lenses with different focal lengths - from 50 millimeters to infinity (when the interface between oil and water is flat). Switching across the entire zoom range takes less than ten milliseconds.

Such a lens is useful for digital cameras built into cell phones. It can also be used in medical endoscopes, as well as in laser DVD players for focusing the reading beam on different layers of the disc.
