Focus Description:

The artist shows the audience both hands empty both from the side of the palms and from the back. A slight wave of the left hand in the air, and the magician closes his fist, as if catching something. He brings his right hand to his left and, with the tips of the thumb and forefinger of his right hand, takes out a large silk handkerchief from the fist of his left hand.

Then the artist again shows both hands empty. Now he takes the handkerchief with his right hand and passes it into his fist with his left, pushing the handkerchief inside the fist with the index finger of his right hand. The magician holds his left fist with a handkerchief in it in front of him. With his right hand, he takes out a "magic" wand from his inner pocket and, touching it to his left hand, quickly opens his fist. The scarf is gone! The artist shows his hands empty. The wand may be handed over to spectators for inspection.

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick lies in the sheath finger, which is made so that it can be worn on the index or ring fingers. A large thin silk handkerchief is placed in this finger-case. Make a finger out of celluloid. But it can also be made from glued thin canvas, then painted with paint in solid color. On fig. 262 shows such a single finger at the top. In the picture below, this finger is inserted between the middle and ring fingers. In the manufacture of a finger-case, it is necessary to ensure that it does not turn out to be thick. It is better to first prepare a blank and use it to make a finger-case.

Fig. 262

Before the trick begins, the handkerchief is placed in the finger-case, and the finger is inserted into the hand. When showing the audience a hand with a finger, you cannot keep your hand motionless for a single moment, otherwise the audience may notice the sixth finger. When the right hand is brought to the left, the finger with the handkerchief is passed into a fist and clamped in it, holding the hole up. The magician gradually removes the handkerchief from his finger. In this case, you need to move your hands all the time. After the handkerchief is almost completely taken out, the magician, as if wanting to correct something, puts his index finger inside his fist and puts a case on it.

Taking out a handkerchief, the artist shows it in such a way as to hide the case on his finger with a handkerchief. Then he takes the handkerchief in his right hand, brings it to his left and, waving both hands, clenching his left into a fist with a handkerchief. Having lowered the index finger of the right hand into the fist, the magician removes the case from it and leaves it inside the fist. Then he pushes the handkerchief into the case with the index finger of his right hand. When the handkerchief is all inside the case, the magician, moving his fingers, pulls the case out of his fist and inserts it into his right hand, as shown in fig. 262. The left fist at this time must be kept closed, fixing the attention of the audience on it. Taking a wand, the conjurer puts a finger-case with a handkerchief into his pocket.

The finger-case gives great opportunities in tricks with handkerchiefs. It is better to use it only for the appearance of scarves. In this case, when the magician shows "empty" hands, none of the spectators will pay attention to the extra finger, and after the appearance of the handkerchief, the finger-case is easy to hide in the handkerchief.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Earth's deepest region discovered 04.03.2023

New scientific evidence shows that the Earth's innermost core is starkly different from the rest of the planet's center.

To understand planetary origin and evolution, scientists have been exploring the center of the Earth for a very long time, and recently they made a huge discovery related to the inner core of the planet Earth.

Until recently, the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core were thought to make up the Earth's structure. But a new study by Australian scientists confirms that there is, in fact, a fifth layer.

Scientists have made previously unheard-of observations of a mysterious metal ball at the deep core of the Earth, revealing a structure that has long been a subject of conjecture but has never been seen in such detail, according to a new study.

An intensive study of the Earth's interior, based on the behavior of seismic waves from strong earthquakes, has confirmed the existence of a distinct structure within our planet's inner core, an extremely hot innermost solid ball of iron and nickel, the researchers said.

"We analyzed digital records of ground movement, known as seismograms, from major earthquakes over the past decade. Our study was made possible by an unprecedented expansion of global seismic networks, especially dense networks in the contiguous US, the Alaska Peninsula and over the European Alps," Smolog said. - Observer Thanh Son Pham of the Australian National University in Canberra, lead author of the study.
