The illusionist gives the audience a bag with cords threaded into it for inspection (Fig. 164).

Then, opening the bag, he places the assistant in it and invites those from the public to “seal” the assistant. The cords of the bag are pulled together and tied in a knot. They bring a lighted candle, a stick of sealing wax and a small plywood board. The ends of the cords are sealed with sealing wax to the plywood board and stamped with a coin or some kind of ring. The spectators step aside, and the bag is covered with a three-leaf screen. The magician stands next to him and counts: “One! Two!” From behind the screen comes “Three!” - and someone’s hand throws the bag over the screen. The performer lifts it (Fig. 165, A). The bag is empty. The assistant comes out from behind the screen, takes the bag from the magician and carries it to the audience to show that it is still tied and sealed.

A second version of this number is also possible. They put the assistant in the bag and “seal it.” The assistant takes out the screen, covers the bag with it and also stands behind it. On the count of “Three,” the assistant moves the screen aside, and everyone sees that someone is sitting in the bag. Spectators who have sealed the bag are invited onto the stage to ensure that the knot and seal are intact. They open the bag and there is an assistant there.

Props:

The bag is about two meters long.

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick is very simple and at the same time witty. Figure 165, B shows a diagram of the bag. Its upper edges are stitched with a strip 2 cm wide, where the cord will be threaded (preferably a curtain one). Cord Ш1 runs along the upper edge of the bag and ends at point K, where it is sewn to the inside. If you grab the cord where it hangs at the top seam and pull, the top edge of the bag will bunch up and the cord will pull out a little.

The second cord Ш2 (shown in dotted lines), also passed inside the seam (upper edge of the bag), goes along its edge, bends at point P and goes down, inside the stitched strip, where it is firmly sewn to the bottom of the bag at point U. If you pull this cord , then it will fold not only the top edge of the bag, but also its left side. This is what the secret is based on. In place P, the inner wall of the bag is slightly unstitched, and a false seam is made on the outside. This allows you to insert two fingers into the resulting hole and pull the lace inside the bag at point P.

Before giving the bag for inspection, cord Ш2 is sewn in place P with one or two stitches to the bag. You can also pin it with a small safety pin and carefully close the edge so that the cord is not visible. When the assistant is placed in the bag, he immediately carefully “unstitches” the cord or unspreads it and holds it tightly, pressing it to the bag so that the spectators can pull the neck of the bag, tie the ends of the cords and seal them. As soon as the screen is placed, the assistant pulls the cord from the long side seam of the PU inward, about 50 centimeters. After this, he can freely open the neck of the bag and come out of it. The assistant steps on the corner of the bag and quickly tightens its neck.

When the audience examines the seal, avoid showing them the bag, otherwise they may discover the secret place of the Self. True, with skillful assistants, you can also show the bag: the assistants will have time to pin the cord with a pin in the right place unnoticed.

The second option is clear and needs no explanation.
