EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Flights of items. Focus secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: On each of the two tables standing on the stage lies a bright oblong box. The artist, having fanned out a deck of cards and taking one card from it, passes it to the public for inspection. Then he hides the deck in his pocket, picks up a box lying on one of the tables, and, having removed the lid from it, shows the audience (Fig. 24) that it is empty, while he turns it in different directions and upside down. With this box, the magician descends into the hall and asks the audience to lower the card they have into the box. When the card is placed, he immediately, in front of the audience, closes the box with a lid, takes it to the stage and puts it on the table. After that, the artist goes to the second table, takes the second box from it, opens it, goes to the ramp, from there shows that there is nothing in this box either - it is empty, closes the box with a lid and puts it in its original place.
Standing in the middle between the tables, the illusionist makes several "magical" passes. - Did you see how the card flew from one box to another? - the artist asks those present. “No,” the audience answers. - However, this is a fait accompli! The artist comes up and takes the box in which the audience put the card, goes to the ramp, opens the box and shows that the card "disappeared" from it. Closing the box, he puts it back in place and walks to another table. Taking the second box, he goes with it to the forefront, where, having opened it, he turns it upside down - a card falls from the box at his feet. Raising it, the magician shows the card to the audience; yes, this is the same card that they put with their own hands in the first box. - If you were more attentive, when you came home, you could show this trick to your loved ones. But do not worry, I will repeat it again. - With these words, the artist puts the card in the box he is holding, closes it and puts it on the table where he took it from. The trick is repeated in the reverse order, that is, the card "flies" from the second box to the first - the one in which it was placed at the beginning of the trick by the spectators themselves. In conclusion, the artist says: "Well, now, I have no doubt that you will be able to show this trick to your friends!" In response, a friendly laugh is usually heard from those present, since, with all their desire, they could not unravel the secret of the trick. Focus secret. Our boxes can be used in many tricks, some of which we will describe later, and others you can think of yourself, having familiarized yourself with the design of the boxes. Both boxes have exactly the same dimensions and design, but they should be different in external colors. Each of the boxes consists of four separate parts, which you can see in fig. 25, A. The top and bottom halves of the box are exactly the same shape, size, and finish. They are made of cardboard, glued inside with black paper, and outside - with bright colored paper, which is folded inward by 5-8 mm. We highly recommend using velvet paper for outdoor pasting, it has an elegant texture and is on sale, however, beautiful decorative fabrics can also be used.
The liner does not have a bottom, it is made of a cardboard strip, pasted over with black paper inside and out. Its finished height is 96 mm, and the length and width must exactly correspond to the internal dimensions of the upper and lower halves of the box, so that the insert can enter them freely. The falling bottom is cut out of 6-8 mm plywood, cleaned with sandpaper, and then glued around with black paper. Its dimensions should be slightly smaller than the internal dimensions of the liner - so that the bottom can enter and move in the liner without friction. As you can see, all the details of the box are made with a fairly high accuracy, which should be paid attention to when making them. When the parts are ready, we will assemble our box - insert our insert into its lower half, and lower the falling bottom into it and close the box with the upper half, putting it on the insert. If in this form you take the box by the bottom in your left hand and slightly squeeze its sides with your fingers, and remove the upper part with your other hand, it will be removed easily, like a lid, while the insert will remain in the lower part of the box (Fig. 25, B). Put a small piece of paper in the bottom part and close the box with a lid, and then, turning the box upside down, open it as described above. The paper has disappeared. It was covered by a falling bottom. If you turn over and open the box again, the piece of paper will "appear". This is the secret of our boxes. In the "Flights" trick, the artist, squeezing the sides of the lower part of the opened box with his fingers, turned and even turned it upside down, without risking that the insert or the falling bottom might fall out. When the audience put down the card and the magician, having closed the lid, carried the box onto the stage, he turned it over with the lid down; it is clear that in this case the map "disappeared", since it was covered by the falling bottom. In another box there was exactly the same second card, hidden in advance under the falling bottom, so the audience did not see it. Putting the "empty" box after it was shown, the magician also turned it over - that's why the card "flew" into it. The reverse "flight" (repetition of the focus) is clear to you from the previous explanation. Other objects can "fly" too, for example, photographs, scarves, etc., but for this you must have two identical objects. Author: Bedarev G.K.
