Focus Description:

The performer shows the audience an ordinary pocket watch, holding it between the thumb and forefinger of the right hand (Fig. 134).

A slight wave of the hand - and two watches are in the hand. The performer holds the second watch between the index and middle fingers. Then he moves this clock so that they are between the middle and ring fingers, and the space between the index and middle fingers remains free. A slight wave of the hand - and a watch also appears between these fingers. Now the magician has three watches in his hand. Another wave - there are already four of them. The illusionist shows them to the audience. With the next slight wave of the hand, one clock suddenly disappears. Another, barely perceptible movement of the hand - the second watch disappears. Finally, the last wave - and there are only hours left, which the magician again shows to the audience.

Folding specially prepared watches (two pairs).

Focus secret:

The secret of the focus is in a specially prepared watch. On fig. 135, And they are shown from the back. The watch is very thin, its thickness barely reaches half of the real case. The case is cut in half, and a nickel-plated plate is soldered on the back side. The outer side is no different from a real watch. It has a dial, hands and glass. A hinge is attached to the back plate, which is connected to the second clock of the same kind. The hinge is spring-loaded and designed so that both halves of the clock can be folded together with their back sides (Fig. 135, B). On the right, a bracket is visible, with which the watch is held pressed between the fingers; on the left is a closing mechanism. When the watch is folded, it slams shut and keeps the watch in position; the mechanism, with a slight pressure on the watch, immediately opens.

This is the secret of the "doubling" clock device. They need to have two pairs - four halves.

The demonstration goes like this. The magician puts two pairs of watches in advance in his pocket or other place. Taking a real watch, which in appearance exactly matches the imitation, the performer shows it to the audience, quietly exchanges it for a folding one and puts it between his fingers, as shown in Fig. 135,5. Waving his hand, he presses the lock - and the clock "doubles". Showing two watches, the artist turns around and at the same time quietly takes out a second pair from his pocket, which he palms in his left palm.

Bringing his left hand with a watch, the magician pretends to take out one of the watches that has appeared. In fact, under the cover of his palm, he slams, folds the first couple of hours, then pushes palmed folding watches out of his palm and, showing them to the audience, inserts them between the middle and ring fingers of his right hand (Fig. 135, D). Now, with a wave of his hand, the magician presses the lock with the thumb of his right hand - and the clock opens under the influence of the spring (Fig. 135, E). With the next stroke, he presses the constipation of the third upper clock. They also open (double), and four hours are in the performer's hand (Fig. 135, E).

Then, when the clock disappears, everything goes in reverse order until the moment when there are two clocks (two pairs folded). Then the artist takes the upper watch and, as it were, rearranges it between the index and middle fingers (in fact, under the cover of his left hand, he doubles the lower watch by pressing the lock), and hides one folded pair in his pocket during the turn. At the same time, the magician has two watches in his right hand (one - between the thumb and index, and the second - between the index and middle fingers), or rather, one doubling. Waving his hand, the performer again turns two watches into one, and when turning, he discreetly takes the real ones out of his pocket and holds them palmed in his left palm. After that, adjusting the watch with his left hand, he exchanges the double watches for real ones, and drops the double ones imperceptibly (when turning) into his pocket. After that, the magician gives the real clock to the audience for inspection.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Getac EX80 Rugged Tablet 11.11.2017

Getac, a company specializing in rugged mobile computers, introduced the EX80 tablet based on the Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor. According to the manufacturer, this is its first fully rugged tablet specifically designed for use in hazardous areas. The product has passed the relevant ATEX/IECEx (Zone 0) and UL913 (Class I/II Division 1) certifications. In simple terms, this means that the tablet can be used by personnel of oil platforms, petrochemical and military industrial enterprises, and even employees of ammunition depots.

The Getac EX80 is sealed in an anti-static case and features surface temperature control to prevent explosions due to static electricity, heat, or friction.

The eight-inch WXGA touchscreen display (1280 x 800 pixels) is characterized by a brightness of 600 cd/m?, according to the manufacturer, sufficient to see the image on the screen even in bright sunlight. The display supports multiple touch modes for working in the rain, while typing, or when using a hard-tip pen.

The Getac EX80 is equipped with 8 megapixel and Full HD cameras, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless interfaces, and a GPS receiver. One of the features of the EX80 is that it comes with a rotating pen, which provides comfortable operation with the tablet, can serve as a stand for the device and a pen holder. Other accessories are available, including docking stations and shoulder straps.

The tablet is running Windows 10 Professional. It is equipped with a TPM 2.0 module, supports multi-factor authentication using the Windows Login system and a contactless smart card reader (HF RFID). The Absolute DDS feature allows you to remotely lock the system in case of loss or theft.

The battery life, according to the manufacturer, exceeds 8 hours. With dimensions of 240 x 155 x 29 mm, the device weighs 1,48 kg.

Degree of protection of the tablet - IP67. In addition, he passed the MIL-STD810G test, that is, he is not afraid of dust, moisture, salt fog, drops, shock, vibration and temperature extremes. The manufacturer provides a three-year warranty for the EX80 tablet.
