Focus Description:

There are two small tables on the stage, on which there are small frames for portraits (see "Portrait Frame"). On the right table near the frame lies a handkerchief and a "magic" wand. The magician declares that now he will show a number where the "mysterious magical power of magic" will manifest itself. True, unlike other illusionists, he will explain to the audience all the manipulations in advance.

The performer takes a handkerchief from the right table, places it inside the frame and shows it. Then he covers the left frame with a scarf and leaves it standing on the table.

“Watch me,” says the magician, “watch what happens. If you pay attention, you will understand the secret of this trick. The handkerchief is placed in a frame. Watch, watch! It disappears.”

The artist puts the frame on the table, and everyone sees that it is empty.

“You see,” he continues, “the handkerchief has disappeared and moved here invisibly.” - Points to the left frame (Fig. 55). Makes several passes with his hand and stick in the direction from the right frame to the left:

Focus The magic journey of the handkerchief
Ris.55

"One! Two! Three! Done!" - Approaches the left frame, and, without looking at it, pulls off the handkerchief.

"Done! The handkerchief has moved here!" - She bows, not noticing that there is no handkerchief in the frame. Then he looks at the frame in surprise.

“Where is the handkerchief? Obviously, someone in the hall also knows about the power of magic and used countermagic. But what is it?” raises his hands to his collar in surprise and pulls a handkerchief out from under the collar. “Aha! He got confused along the way Here! that it is empty. - I don’t understand anything! - He covers the frame with a handkerchief and puts it in its place. - Let me think a little! I need to smoke "- He is looking for cigarettes in his pockets. Does not find. Addresses the public:

“Would someone lend me a cigarette?” Lights a cigarette taken from the audience, but cannot smoke, tears the cigarette in half and takes a folded handkerchief from the cigarette holder. Shows it to the audience: “See! He's lost again! Well, now he will go where he needs to." - He takes the scarf in his hands, and it disappears with lightning speed. The magician, approaching the table, pulls the blanket off the frame, the audience sees that the scarf is inside the frame. The performer takes it out and shows it to the audience.

Props:

Two frames (see "Portrait frame")

Four identical small silk handkerchiefs.

Two scarves for covering frames.

Paper sleeve for a handkerchief.

Focus secret:

There are several secrets to this trick. The secret of the frame is described by us below. One of the four handkerchiefs is placed in the left frame in advance. The magician carefully tucks the second handkerchief under his collar in advance, its tip is located near the right lapel of the collar: this way it is more convenient to take the handkerchief. The third handkerchief is folded very compactly, tightly rolled into a ball and tucked into a cigarette sleeve. The sleeve is placed in one of the pockets. The fourth handkerchief is hidden near the right frame. Scarves are placed on the tables, which cover the frames.

The left frame with the charged handkerchief is covered with sand and placed on the left table. The right frame before the number is shown is empty (the sand in it is at the bottom, in a special compartment). During the performance, having placed the handkerchief in the right frame, the magician puts it in place and quietly turns it over; sand covers the handkerchief. Pulling off the scarf, he shows the “empty” frame and puts it back on the table. Having pulled off the scarf from the left frame (the scarf is covered with sand in it), the performer bows, as if finishing the act. When it turns out that there is nothing there, the frame is again covered with a scarf and, without turning it over, placed on the table. (The appearance of the scarf from under the collar is clear from the previous description.)

After checking the frame and showing it empty, the magician again covers it with a handkerchief and imperceptibly turns it over (sand falls off and opens the handkerchief, but the audience does not see it yet, since the frame is covered with a handkerchief). Before the artist takes a cigarette from the audience, he first takes out a sleeve with a handkerchief from his pocket with his left hand, imperceptibly puts it to the mouthpiece and tears it together with the cigarette. During the display of the handkerchief in the hands, it will no longer be difficult to hide the fragments of the cartridge case.

Now it remains to say about two cases of the disappearance of a handkerchief from the hands. The first time the handkerchief "disappears" with a stick: holding the handkerchief in your left hand, you gradually take it inside the palm of your hand; the wand is in the right hand. Then the right hand moves towards the left, and with a wave, the handkerchief is imperceptibly quickly passed from the left to the right; the left at this moment is kept closed, as if "squeezing" a handkerchief. They point to the left hand with a wand and gradually open the left palm, and at this time put the handkerchief from the right hand with the wand into the inner pocket or on the table (the wand should be visible, but the handkerchief is hidden).

In the second case, the scarf "disappears" with the help of an elastic band tied under the suit to the belt. At the end of the elastic there is a small conical sleeve or clip into which a handkerchief is inserted. Using a wand as a distraction, they allow the scarf with an elastic band to "disappear" behind the back.

This trick requires good rehearsal of both the trick and the text.

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Implanted brain stimulator 30.04.2024

In recent years, scientific research in the field of neurotechnology has made enormous progress, opening new horizons for the treatment of various psychiatric and neurological disorders. One of the significant achievements was the creation of the smallest implanted brain stimulator, presented by a laboratory at Rice University. Called Digitally Programmable Over-brain Therapeutic (DOT), this innovative device promises to revolutionize treatments by providing more autonomy and accessibility to patients. The implant, developed in collaboration with Motif Neurotech and clinicians, introduces an innovative approach to brain stimulation. It is powered through an external transmitter using magnetoelectric power transfer, eliminating the need for wires and large batteries typical of existing technologies. This makes the procedure less invasive and provides more opportunities to improve patients' quality of life. In addition to its use in treatment, resist ... >>

The perception of time depends on what one is looking at 29.04.2024

Research in the field of the psychology of time continues to surprise us with its results. Recent discoveries by scientists from George Mason University (USA) turned out to be quite remarkable: they discovered that what we look at can greatly influence our sense of time. During the experiment, 52 participants took a series of tests, estimating the duration of viewing various images. The results were surprising: the size and detail of the images had a significant impact on the perception of time. Larger, less cluttered scenes created the illusion of time slowing down, while smaller, busier images gave the feeling of time speeding up. Researchers suggest that visual clutter or detail overload can make it difficult to perceive the world around us, which in turn can lead to faster perception of time. Thus, it was shown that our perception of time is closely related to what we look at. Larger and smaller ... >>

Diet can change the taste of sugar 18.04.2020

Researchers at the University of Sydney found that the perception of sweet taste changes in response to different diets. This is why low-calorie sweeteners can be harmful.

Although it has long been known that different people perceive the taste of food differently, depending on their habitual diet, scientists still did not understand the molecular pathways that control this effect. Professor Greg Neely with Professor Qiaoping Wang of the Charles Perkins Center at the University of Sydney proved that sweet taste is very subjective. They learned four important things:

- the foods we eat can change how we perceive food in the future;
- it uses the mechanism that the brain uses for learning;
- diets that increase life expectancy improve taste perception;
Lifespan, learning and sensory perception are linked.

Professor Wang, leader of the study, said: "We were surprised to find that a protein-restricted diet, which allows you to live much longer, also increases the intensity of sucrose intake."

Scientists have found that eating large amounts of sugar suppresses the perception of sweet taste, causing sugar to appear less sweet. This is why artificial sweeteners help increase food intake, especially when combined with a low-carb diet.

Central to these connections is the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is responsible for "reward." “It came as a complete surprise to us that the same chemical pathways that are used to control learning and memory are at work in this case. They also enhance taste sensations. This proves that learning is a whole-body phenomenon,” says Professor Neely.
