EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Fakir's magic wand. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The magician shows the “magic wand to the audience and tells the “true” story of how the wand came to him from an Indian fakir. The spectators examining the wand do not see anything unusual in it. The performer is “offended”: he put the wand in the inner pocket of his suit, but, having thought about it, he immediately takes it back. To prove its extraordinary properties, the illusionist does the following. He wraps the stick in a sheet of paper (Fig. 27, A) and holds it on his outstretched right hand (Fig. 27, B). Then he connects both hands together (Fig. 27, B). The package is crumpled. The stick has disappeared.
The magician says: “As you can see, the wand has disappeared, but it is very capricious and capricious.” At this moment, the stick “itself” jumps out of the performer’s pocket (Fig. 27, D). The magician catches it and again gives it to the audience for inspection. Props: Two completely identical "magic" wands. Paper thin false stick. Device for feeding sticks from your pocket. A small sheet of plain paper. Focus secret: The first part of the issue was described above. However, in this case, you should not put wooden plugs into the false stick: the performer may not knock with it. When preparing for a trick, a real stick loaded into a device for “shooting” is placed in advance in the inner pocket of the costume along with a false stick. The magician holds the second, real, wand in his hands and first of all gives it to the audience for inspection. Make a pocket about 40-45 cm long so that the shooting device fits in it - a tube with a diameter of 25 mm (Fig. 28).
The stick should fit freely into this tube. The stick is shown by dotted line D, the tube itself is indicated by the letter A. The length of the tube depends on the strength and length of spring B, which is firmly attached to the bottom B. In the free state, the spring should extend slightly beyond the upper edge of the tube. At the upper end of the device, a circle G is soldered to support the stick. A strong nylon thread is tied to the circle in the center; it limits the movement of the spring and does not allow the circle to go beyond the tube. Thread H with the other end is attached to the bottom of tube B. A plate I with a hole is also soldered to the tube, so that the device can be sewn inside the pocket in a certain position. The ears L are soldered on the side of the tube, in which the trigger E swings freely. To keep it constantly cocked, one end of the spring 3, arranged in the form of a safety pin, is attached to the tube; the other side of the spring presses on the trigger and forces its bent end to enter the tube through the hole J. An eye K is also soldered to the tube, through which a very strong thread M with a ring O is passed. The magician pulls on it, and the wand flies out. Here's how it happens. The thread bends the outer end of the trigger E to the tube, its second end comes out of the hole G and releases the stick, which, from the push of the spring, flies high up from the tube. Thread H stops the spring as soon as circle G reaches the upper edge of the tube. Thread M with ring O is passed through the bottom of the pocket and brought out under the side of the suit. Here she is kept in such a position that she is not visible to the audience. The performer can easily and imperceptibly pull the thread at the right moment, thereby lifting the trigger and releasing the stick (Fig. 27, D). With his left hand, pressed to his side, he has just pulled the O ring, and with his right hand he is already catching the stick that flew up. The shooting device is very simple in design and has proven itself well during many magician performances. The device can be placed in a trouser pocket instead of an internal suit pocket. Then thread M will not be needed, the performer, approaching the table, presses against it with the side of his leg to which the tube is adjacent, and presses it against the table, activating the trigger; the wand is released and freely flies up under the cover of the left hem of a tailcoat or jacket.
