EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Disappearing coins. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: This trick is especially popular with the guys, show it at a children's matinee - and you will be convinced of this. "I have three items: a box, a glass and a handkerchief. Examine them carefully without breaking them." The artist descends into the hall and, approaching in turn to several young spectators and giving them the opportunity to get acquainted with these objects, returns to the stage, where he puts these things on his table. "Which of you can count to ten well and wants to help me?" Usually there are a lot of applicants, and the leader chooses one of them according to his desire. The young assistant rises to the stage. The magician, having taken several one-kopeck coins from his jacket pocket, gives them to his assistant with a request to count exactly how many coins he gave him. In the meantime, he himself does the following: he takes a handkerchief from the table and puts it on his shoulder; tucks the handle of a small scoop into the breast pocket of his jacket; takes in one hand box, and at the same time puts its cover in one of the outer side pockets; puts a glass into the other pocket. All this should be clearly visible to the audience. On his way to his assistant, he places the box on a separate table by the ramp along the way. After counting the coins, the assistant says there are fifteen of them. The host passes the glass to the assistant, which he takes in his hand free from coins. Then he asks, counting aloud And placing one by one, put ten coins on the scoop, which the conjurer now holds in his hand. When 10 coins are counted out, the artist, without touching them, pours directly from the scoop into the glass to the assistant, covers the glass with a handkerchief and asks his "assistant" to hold it higher so that all the guys can see him well. Next, the magician asks, also counting aloud, one by one to put the remaining coins on the scoop; then he carries and pours them off the scoop into the box he left on the table. Putting the scoop on the table, he takes a lid from his pocket, closes the box with it and, taking it in his hands, shakes it several times so that the audience can hear that the coins are inside the box. After that, having seized the scoop, the artist goes to the back of the stage to his working table for the "magic" wand and leaves the scoop there along the way. Returning to the forefront, he addresses the young "assistant": - How many coins do you have in the glass? “Ten,” the assistant answers naturally. - Is he speaking correctly? - Correctly! - the guys answer in unison. The magician makes several strokes of the "magic" wand, asks the assistant to remove the handkerchief from the glass and count the coins, pouring them into his free hand, and then throwing them back one at a time. The guys in the hall repeat this account aloud. There are fifteen coins. Then they are counted again, but there are exactly fifteen of them. The kids are surprised, of course. "Obviously, those five coins that were in the box flew into the glass. Let's check!" The magician approaches the table, taking the box, shakes it, but the coins do not ring in it, he opens the box, turning it over, shakes it, but there are no coins. "As you can see, the coins really flew from the box into the glass!" The artist shakes hands with his young spectator assistant and lets him go into the hall. A real illusionist's assistant comes out from behind the scenes with a tray and takes all the props that have become unnecessary, taking them off the stage. Focus Secrets: As in every trick, so this must have its own "secret" - a secret; here there are two of them. The first is enclosed in a scoop, from which the coins were poured into an ordinary glass cup. Figure 26, A shows a general view of the scoop from above and a section along its handle, which has a cavity inside. All parts are cut with a 26mm plywood jigsaw. Part a, which is the base, is cut first; detail b is glued on top of it - the side of the scoop; item c is glued under the handle from below, forming an internal cavity, and item d is glued on top of it. The assembled scoop is shown (bottom view) in Figure XNUMX, B, the bold arrow indicates the outer slot of the handle cavity. The finished scoop should be sanded well with a fine sandpaper, completely painted with black matte paint; do not forget to paint the inner cavity as well, otherwise the audience will see its outer slot, and this is the secret of our apparatus. All required dimensions are shown in the picture.
The second secret is in the lid, which was used to close the box with coins. You will have to make one such cover for the twin boxes you already have. How the lid is made was described earlier (see Fig. 18, and and 18, j), only the new lid should have a side not 10, but 13 millimeters and a three-millimeter slot on one of its sides, which is clearly visible in fig. 27.
Now let's look at the focus demonstration itself. When the artist introduced the audience to a handkerchief, a glass and a box, he showed the latter with its former lid, which had no secret, so the guys could not suspect anything. The scoop taken by the illusionist from the working table was already charged in advance by him with five kopeck coins hidden in the inner cavity of the handle through the outer slot. After the young assistant, counting out loud, put ten coins on the scoop, and the magician poured them into a glass, the five coins that were hidden in the handle of the scoop also fell there. So there were not ten of them, but fifteen. He also, counting, put the five coins remaining with the assistant on a scoop, and the artist took them and poured them into a box, but she stood without a lid, which the host then took out of his pocket, replacing it with a lid with a slot rice. 27). When he shook the box so that the guys could hear the sound of coins inside it, he turned the box upside down, and the coins slipped out into the magician's hand through a slot in the side. Then the host took the scoop to the work table, where he left it, and with it the coins that he had in his hand. Then he took the "magic" wand and finished the show, as we have described above.
