Focus Description:

The egg either sinks or floats in the water.

Focus secret:

Take 3 jars: two half-liter and one liter. Fill one jar with clean water and dip a raw egg into it. It will drown.

Pour a strong solution of table salt into the second jar (2 tablespoons per 0,5 l of water). Dip the second egg there - it will float. This is because salt water is heavier, so it is easier to swim in the sea than in a river.

Now put an egg on the bottom of a liter jar. Gradually adding water from both small jars in turn, you can get a solution in which the egg will neither float nor sink. It will be held, as if suspended, in the middle of the solution.

When the experiment is done, you can show the focus. By adding salt water, you will ensure that the egg will float. Adding fresh water - that the egg will sink. Externally, salt and fresh water do not differ from each other, and it will look amazing.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Excitons can increase the energy efficiency of electrons 29.02.2020

A team of chemical engineering specialists from the Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne in Switzerland has presented their new research on improving the handling of electrical devices - more specifically, improving their energy-efficient properties. The discovery became possible thanks to the establishment of a better method of controlling the so-called excitons, which are quasi-particles that are formed at the moment when electrons absorb light in one or another proportion, but in equal time intervals. The new study is indeed identifying the best way to improve the performance of electrical equipment.

In particular, the experts presented their new development, which allows capturing excitons at the moment of their occurrence. But since these quasi-particles are extremely small and their transition phase - which forms them - is quite fast, specialists had to go to some tricks in order to still keep these particles in the field of attention. They noticed that excitons reproduce much more expressive properties, being an integral part of a semiconductor and working with it as a whole, which automatically means the ability to significantly increase the amount of electrical conductivity and the conservation of electricity as such - for example, in dead-end conductors and insulators.

Moreover, the scientists indicated that they intend to make some plan to improve these conductive properties of excitons, since they can significantly improve their potential in the composition of a device in the future - for example, some kind of strong electrical conductor or semiconductor.

An increase in the overall level of conductivity and energy efficiency of the so-called excitons will allow in the future to design much more functional and interesting versions of electrical devices of various kinds, which will differ not only in an increased service life from a single charge, but also in higher resistance to high and low temperatures and other various dangerous environmental factors. Excitons can be really different, but scientists can bring them to a common factor.
