Self-tie scarf. Focus secret

Comments on the article
Focus Description:
The magician takes a colored scarf from his illusion table and shows it to the audience from all sides. A scarf like a scarf.
There is nothing special about him, except that he is colored. But, apparently, something extraordinary must happen to him, since he fell into the hands of a magician. And the audience is watching with interest.
The performer, taking the scarf by the corners diagonally, ties it in the middle with a knot and holds the scarf in the air at one of the corners. And a miracle happens to the handkerchief: the knot on it instantly unties by itself.
Focus secret:
For this trick, you need a scarf made of thin material - nylon - 40x40 cm in size. It is better, of course, that it be colored - blue, red or green.
A strong thin black thread 1-1,5 m long is attached (but not tied) to one of the corners of the scarf (the length of the thread depends on the height of the performer). The handkerchief prepared in this way can lie on the illusion table before the focus begins (Fig. 1).
Ris.1
During the demonstration of the trick, the performer, taking the handkerchief from the table, holds it by two corners so that the thread hangs freely and its end is on the floor (Fig. 2).
Ris.2
Showing the scarf to the audience from both sides, the performer convinces them that there are no secrets in the scarf. The thread on a dark background will be completely invisible. Then the artist takes the scarf diagonally and ties it in a knot (Fig. 3).
Ris.3
At the moment of tying the knot, the magician must step with one foot on the end of the thread lying on the floor. In addition, he must ensure that the corner of the handkerchief to which the thread is attached is in the upper position in his hand (Fig. 4). When tying a knot, the thread should not be taut, as it may break, and the knot tied on a scarf should not be made tight.
Ris.4
After the knot is tied, the artist takes the handkerchief by the corner opposite to that to which the thread is attached (Fig. 6), slightly raises it, and the thread, the free end of which is under the foot, will pull the corner of the handkerchief attached to it through the loop of the knot, due to which the knot will be untied (Fig. 6).
Ris.5
Ris.6
If the performer, at the moment of raising his hand, blows on the knot, then the viewer will have the complete impression that the breath contributed to the untying of the scarf.
It should be remembered that this trick must be shown on a dark background and the artist's costume must be black or dark blue.

Solidification of bulk substances
30.04.2024
There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>
Implanted brain stimulator
30.04.2024
In recent years, scientific research in the field of neurotechnology has made enormous progress, opening new horizons for the treatment of various psychiatric and neurological disorders. One of the significant achievements was the creation of the smallest implanted brain stimulator, presented by a laboratory at Rice University. Called Digitally Programmable Over-brain Therapeutic (DOT), this innovative device promises to revolutionize treatments by providing more autonomy and accessibility to patients. The implant, developed in collaboration with Motif Neurotech and clinicians, introduces an innovative approach to brain stimulation. It is powered through an external transmitter using magnetoelectric power transfer, eliminating the need for wires and large batteries typical of existing technologies. This makes the procedure less invasive and provides more opportunities to improve patients' quality of life. In addition to its use in treatment, resist ... >>
The perception of time depends on what one is looking at
29.04.2024
Research in the field of the psychology of time continues to surprise us with its results. Recent discoveries by scientists from George Mason University (USA) turned out to be quite remarkable: they discovered that what we look at can greatly influence our sense of time. During the experiment, 52 participants took a series of tests, estimating the duration of viewing various images. The results were surprising: the size and detail of the images had a significant impact on the perception of time. Larger, less cluttered scenes created the illusion of time slowing down, while smaller, busier images gave the feeling of time speeding up. Researchers suggest that visual clutter or detail overload can make it difficult to perceive the world around us, which in turn can lead to faster perception of time. Thus, it was shown that our perception of time is closely related to what we look at. Larger and smaller ... >>
Random news from the Archive Eternal paint based on plasmonic pixels
04.06.2016
A team of researchers from the University of Melbourne has developed a paint made from metal nanoparticles - plasmonic pixels - that will never fade in the sun.
A plasmonic pixel is a very small piece of metal. There are many very mobile electrons in any metal, and when light acts on a metal nanoparticle, the photon energy slightly shifts the electrons away from their nuclei, creating negative and positive poles for a short time. The forces of Coulomb attraction bring the electrons back into place. This process is repeated countless times and is called plasmon resonance. It causes the nanoparticles (and the material made from them) to absorb electromagnetic waves with certain characteristics - due to this, the material from the plasmonic pixels acquires a color visible to the eye.
The use of plasmonic pixels as a coloring agent has so far encountered a number of difficulties - in particular, the number of colors available was limited, and there was also no way to give a pixel a permanent specific color.
The new plasmonic pixel format allows you to create more than 2000 colors and shades. Scientists used tiny antennas made of aluminum: the distance between them determines the saturation of the color, and the hue is determined by the length of the antenna. With the size, too, everything is getting better: we managed to make a picture with a size of 1,5 x 1,5 cm - this is much more than similar techniques allowed before. And the resolution of the image is so high that the human eye cannot see the distance between the pixels.
Eternal paint based on plasmonic pixels can be used to paint cars, buildings and other large surfaces.
