Focus Description:
Tie a piece of rope in the middle with a loose knot. Holding the rope at one end, release the other end. A loose ring knot will not only move to the lower end of the rope, but will separate and fall to the floor.
Focus secret:
The rope consists of three separate parts, the middle of which is three times shorter than the two identical outer ropes. These three ropes are connected into one with the help of inconspicuous buttons. Tying the "whole" rope in the middle with a loose knot, imperceptibly open the buttons and close them so that the two extreme ropes join into one, and the middle one, forming a closed ring, is put on it.
From the side, all this will look like the most ordinary knot is tied in the middle of the rope. If you let go of one of the ends of such a rope, then the fake knot will slide down from it and end up on the floor.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive vegetable bacon
28.07.2015
Researchers at the University of Oregon, USA have patented a method for growing the red algae Palmaria mollis, which taste like fried bacon when cooked. Red algae have been eaten for a long time, and Irish monks recorded recipes as early as the XNUMXth century using a close relative of the new invention, Palmaria palmata.
The author of the invention, Professor Chris Langdon, has been growing algae in cold sea water tanks for 15 years. At first, he set himself the task of creating a "super food" for feeding trepangs on the farm. The resulting variety of algae grew faster than its wild relatives, contained significant amounts of minerals, antioxidants and vitamins, and had 16 percent more protein. The trepangs liked the diet, and their growth rates increased, like those of pigs.
The idea to feed people with algae came not from a scientist, but from a professor at the business school of the same university who was looking for a suitable project for his students. A research chef was also invited to collaborate, and thanks to his experiments, it was possible to achieve the taste of bacon.
Currently, Professor Langdon is able to grow 9-14 kg of algae per week, but he is going to increase production to 45 kg.
