Focus Description:

An excellent trick, with which it is desirable to start the program by opening the view. The performer demonstrates to the public a beautiful scarf from all sides and covers his palm with it.

Suddenly, the handkerchief begins to take on a certain shape due to the fact that something has arisen under it. The magician raises his handkerchief, and the audience sees with amazement: on the outstretched palm, a glass magically appeared and proudly stands, besides - full of wine (any liquid).

Focus secret:

For this trick you need: a tall glass with a long stem; dense (opaque) scarf, square, with a side of about 60 cm; a piece of fabric that is the same in color and texture as the material of your jacket; and a soft sticky plastic or rubber lid that seals the shot glass tightly. The lid is needed so that liquid does not leak out of the glass until it magically appears in your palm. In any hardware store, you will find such a lid for a standard shot glass. You can use adhesive packaging film, which is additionally secured with a rubber band. Another good option is a rubber ball that seals the top of the glass tightly. Be sure to test the ball before the performance: on the one hand, it should tightly lock the liquid in the glass, on the other hand, it should be easy to remove from it.

A. First of all, cut out of the material the same color and texture as the material of your jacket, a round piece, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the bottom of the glass. Glue this circle to the bottom bottom.

C. Next, pour the wine-colored liquid into the glass, fill the glass about three-quarters and seal it in the way you have chosen.

C. Place the prepared glass under the arm of your left hand with the bottom facing the audience. (Now you understand why it needs to be sealed with the material from which the jacket is sewn.) Since you are holding the glass under your arm, this trick should be the first in the presentation. Put your handkerchief in your breast pocket and you're good to go.

Focus The phenomenon of wine glasses

1. As soon as you enter the stage, remove the handkerchief from your breast pocket, unfold it and, holding it with both hands, show the audience.

2. You must hold the handkerchief so that your thumbs are on top of the edge of the handkerchief, and all the rest behind the handkerchief.

3. Pulling the handkerchief tightly with your hands, cross your arms. The right hand moves behind the left, closer to the body, and the left turns towards the audience, taking a new position in front of the elbow of the right hand. Demonstrating the handkerchief in this way, you grab the stem of the glass with the fingers of your right hand, secretly taking it with your index and middle fingers. Grabbing the stem of the glass, slightly raise the elbow of your left hand. As a result of this, the glass will turn upside down behind the right corner of the handkerchief and end up in the right hand, not noticed by the audience. The left elbow will help you hide this operation from them when demonstrating the scarf.

4. Now return your hands and handkerchief to their original position. This will move the upside-down glass with your right hand, hiding it behind the right corner of the handkerchief.

5. The whole operation by which you have to convince the audience that the handkerchief is empty (steps 1-4) should be done in one smooth continuous movement so as not to draw undue attention of the public to the right hand. Practice in front of a mirror to determine which "corners" are the most dangerous for you. If at some point you "light up" the glass, change your actions and solve this problem. Having done the operation correctly, repeat it again and again until the movement becomes continuous, smooth, natural.

6. So, you have successfully performed the operation, and the inverted glass is held by the index and middle fingers of the right hand behind the right corner of the handkerchief. Now release the handkerchief with your right thumb and move your right hand with a glass to its center, continuing to hold it with your left hand. As shown in the picture, the handkerchief will be lying on the right hand with a glass, hiding them from the audience. Since the glass is upside down, the audience sees that the handkerchief covers the empty palm.

7. Grasp the center of the handkerchief with the fingers of your left hand and lift it up, creating a kind of "awning" over your right hand. Pause for a moment and let go of the handkerchief, which will fall flat on your right hand once more. In this movement, the glass is still upside down.

8. Repeat this movement, but this time, lifting the handkerchief, turn the glass over with the fingers of your right hand, placing it upside down in your palm, as shown in the figure. Let go of the handkerchief again, and it will fall on the glass: the audience will understand from its shape that there is something under it. This instant appearance, when performed properly, makes a very strong impression on the audience.

9. Grasping the rubber cover (or other kind of cork) through the fabric of the handkerchief with your left hand, remove it from the glass, starting to lift the handkerchief. The rubber cover should be hidden in the folds. Having removed the handkerchief, open the fingers of your right hand so that the glass stands freely in the palm of your hand, magically appearing in this position. Set the handkerchief (with a rubber cap) aside and toast the audience by drinking the liquid to prove its authenticity.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Renewable energy sources will become more popular than natural gas 08.07.2013

According to the International Energy Agency IEA (IEA), already in 2018 solar and wind energy will account for a quarter of all energy sources used in the world. In 2016, all renewable energy sources combined will overtake natural gas in terms of use, double the use of nuclear energy, and become second only to coal as an energy source. Thus, the arguments about the "frivolity" of alternative energy seem, to put it mildly, thoughtless.

Experts are full of optimism about the use of renewable energy sources, and believe that their widespread use is an important step in reducing environmental pollution. Solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, bioenergy have shown their competitiveness in comparison with fossil fuels. Therefore, it is not surprising that the frequency of the use of renewable sources is increasing. The pioneers in this area are China, as well as other developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

Leaving aside hydropower, wind and solar energy use alone will rise from 4% in 2011 to 8% in 2018. This is good news for the global economy and the world's energy system, which should become cleaner. The use of current fossil energy sources is detrimental to the environment, and according to a recent report from the International Energy Agency, fossil fuels are a far greater threat to the climate than previously thought. Therefore, experts are calling for urgent action, including reducing the number of coal-fired power plants and phasing out other fossil energy sources.

However, the International Energy Agency warns that the use of alternative energy sources is associated with a number of serious problems. For example, in some countries, government policy does not include investment in renewable energy, and subsidies are reduced due to economic problems. In addition, the development of shale gas deposits - a promising direction in the energy sector - reduces interest in renewable sources.

The report of the Agency says that often the smart use of renewable energy sources can be competitive, such as onshore winds in Brazil or in Australia, where wind energy competes with coal and natural gas. Japan also intends to stimulate the use of solar energy in the country.

But most of the renewable energy is used in China, where this type of fuel will take about 40% of the total capacity in 2012-2018. Already, the Chinese government is investing in hydropower, solar and wind energy. The report also notes that in the near future, coal will still account for 65% of total generating capacity in 2015.
