Focus Description:
In this trick with a claim to telepathy, several skeins of woolen yarn are needed. Each skein has a different color. In other respects they are the same.
The magician turns away, a skein of wool is placed in his hand. Other skeins are hidden. Continuing to keep his hands behind his back, the magician turns to the audience for a few seconds; then he turns away again and everyone sees the skein in his hands. He immediately says what color the skein is.
Focus secret:
Focus is performed in two stages. First, when the magician is facing the audience, he tears off a small piece of wool from the skein he is holding. When he turns away again, he shows everyone that the skein is behind him. But he has a piece of wool in his other hand, with which he touches his forehead. This allows him to see the color of the coat and he names it.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive Virus against girls
15.02.2007
American doctors drew attention to a curious pattern: in countries where hepatitis B is common, fewer girls are born than in countries where this disease is relatively rare.
A 10% increase in the proportion of those infected with hepatitis B virus increases the proportion of boys among newborns by 1%. In some areas of Alaska, the number of infected among the indigenous population reached 20%. After the vaccination campaign in Alaska in the 80s, the proportion of boys dropped sharply. Similar data are available for Taiwan.
Because of the hepatitis virus, epidemiologists have calculated, 30 million women are missing in the modern world. How exactly the virus affects the sex of babies is not yet clear.
