EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Extraordinary sticks. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: In the hands of the magician are two sticks connected together; small ropes hang from the side of each of them. Taking one end of the rope, the artist pulls it to the side, and the rope obediently passes through the sticks. The magician then pulls the string the other way. The rope slides back and forth (Fig. 1, a). But here the performer spreads the upper ends of the sticks to the sides. Spectators clearly see that the sticks are connected by a string and it easily passes through both sticks.
Then the performer takes the scissors and cuts the string connecting the sticks. But the rope again, as if nothing had happened, slides back and forth (Fig. 1, c).
Now the artist spreads the lower ends of the sticks in different directions, keeping them at a distance from each other. And the actions of the "magic" rope have not changed - it again easily passes through both sticks back and forth. Having finished the trick, the performer places the mysterious wands on the illusion table. Focus secret: The drawings for this trick quite clearly reveal its secret. First of all, you need to prepare two wooden sticks 25-40 cm long. They can be made according to the model of a "magic" wand. It is desirable that the sticks are bright - red, blue or green. Both sticks should be hollow inside. Holes in them can be drilled or burned with a hot nail of the appropriate size; but since such a nail is quite difficult to find, it is better to drill holes in the sticks. The sticks should be rounded on three sides, and faceted on the fourth. The inner hole is displayed on the rounded part of the stick. When the holes in the sticks are ready, a string 60-65 cm long must be threaded through them, which will connect both sticks at the lower ends (Fig. 2).
Focuses on stage On the faceted sides of the sticks, at the same level as the ends of the rope brought out, small holes must be drilled. Then you should take a piece of rope 8-10 cm long, make knots at both ends of it and push these knots into the holes of both sticks. This will be a fictitious connection of sticks, with the help of which the artist achieves the first visual effect of the focus (see Fig. 2). The secret of the trick lies in the bottom connection of the sticks. But, of course, you need to hold the sticks so that their lower ends are not visible to the audience. When the artist cuts the top rope, the demonstration of the trick must be continued with particular care. In order to separate the lower ends of the sticks, the performer must take them into fists, and connect the fists together and turn them back to the audience. Then the string connecting the sticks will remain invisible to the viewer (Fig. 3).
