Did dragons really exist?

Terrible dragons are the characters of fairy tales and legends of many peoples living in all corners of our planet. They are depicted as huge, snake-like monsters, with their very appearance terrifying people. Although, as a rule, dragons in fairy tales and legends are representatives of the forces of evil, they also sometimes become symbols of the forces that protect man.

In the old days, warriors painted dragons on their shields to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. It should be noted that sometimes people really believed that dragons existed. Before Columbus, sailors rarely dared to plow the waters of unfamiliar seas precisely because of the fear of huge monsters that supposedly live in the depths of the sea, capable of swallowing the ship whole along with the crew.

Of course, they were wrong, and dragons existed and exist only in legends and fairy tales. Then why did people consider them real beings? One possible explanation is that once, in prehistoric times, there were huge animals on Earth. The most terrible of them, dinosaurs, disappeared from the planet long before the appearance of man on it. However, it is likely that in the time of the cavemen, various gigantic reptiles continued to be found on Earth, and it was they who became the prototypes of fabulous dragons.

Phison PS5.0-E5026 PCIe 26 Drive 25.05.2022

Phison showed a prototype NVMe solid-state drive based on the PS5026-E26 controller announced at the beginning of the year with a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface. This chip will be used in high-performance M.2 gaming SSD models, as well as in enterprise-level solutions.

With the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface's ability to deliver up to 15,8 GB/s of bandwidth in both directions, drives using it will be significantly faster than current PCIe 4.0 solutions. In addition, next-generation SSDs based on future PCIe 5.0 controllers will be able to offer higher capacities and higher reliability than current solutions.

Phison showed NVMe storage on the PS5026-E26 controller, equipped with 1 TB of 3D TLC NAND memory from Micron. The maximum sequential read speed of the SSD was 12 MB / s, and writes - at the level of 457 MB / s (CrystalDiskMark data). As for the performance of random read and write operations of 10K blocks, they reach values ​​of 023 and 4 million IOPS, respectively. These figures are significantly higher than most consumer models of PCIe 1,31 x1,16 SSDs.

The first generation of the Phison PS5026-E26 controller contains Arm Cortex-R5 cores, and also uses specialized CoXProcessor 2.0 cores. The controller can work with any type of 3D NAND flash memory that complies with the Toggle 5.0 and ONFi 5.0 specifications and operates at up to 2400 MHz.

Since Phison positions this controller as the basis not only for consumer SSD models, but also for enterprise-level solutions, the chip also offers support for features such as PCIe Dual Port for U.3 drives, Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR- IOV), as well as the possibility of zonal recording of the same type of data - Zone Namespaces (ZNS).
