Focus Description:

The spectator selects a card at random, returns it to its place, and it is shuffled along with the entire deck. Two black jacks are taken from the deck and placed on the table. The magician behind his back puts two jacks into the deck. When the deck is then reviewed, two black jacks are found face up with another card between them. This card is chosen by the spectator.

Focus secret:

This trick has a very beautiful denouement. It belongs to the category of tricks where "detectives" are involved looking for a card, and usually these detectives are jacks, so we will use two black jacks. Don't talk about it at the very beginning, you just need a volunteer, let's say Zakhar, who will choose a card at random.

1. Give the deck to Zakhar and ask him to shuffle it. Take it back and level it up, while taking a quick look at the bottom card. Let the bottom card be the two of clubs. Fan out the cards and ask Zakhar to take a card from anywhere in the deck and, so that you do not see it, show it to the rest of the audience. At this time, fold the deck and ask Zakhar to put a card on top of the deck.

2. Now tell the audience that you will shuffle the deck. False shuffle 5 to be sure that Zahara's card is under the two of clubs you spotted, but with one but. For this trick, you do not need to make a final withdrawal, but you need to leave two cards, the Zakhar card and the two of clubs, near the bottom of the deck.

3. Explain to Zakhar that you are going to find his card with the help of two detectives, their role will be played by two black jacks, which you will take from the deck.

4. Scroll through the cards so that the audience does not see their face, and find two black jacks. At the same time, look for the two of clubs. Before pulling out two black jacks, you must find the two of clubs. Continuing to scroll through the cards, make a gap with your left little finger between the two of clubs and the nearest card on the right, that is, the Zakhar card (let it be five of hearts). This is easy to do, since the two cards you need are very close to the right side of the deck.

5. After finding the jacks and placing them on the table, align the deck again, keeping the gap with your little finger, and at the same time remove the deck behind your back with your left hand. Move your right hand behind your back, telling the audience: "Holding the deck behind my back, I'm going to put these two jacks in it in the hope that they will help me find the Zakhar card." While saying this, take a few cards behind your back from under the gap with your right hand and place them upside down so that the top card in the deck, facing down, is the five of hearts.

6. Keeping the deck behind your back, take one of the jacks in your right hand and insert it face up under the top card of the deck. Then take the second jack and place it face up on top of the deck. Holding the cards behind your back, remove the cards somewhere near the middle of the pack, move the bottom half up so that the jacks and five of hearts are in the middle, and pull the cards from behind.

7. Lay the cards face down on the table. The two jacks will be face up in the center, with a face down card between them (see picture above). Tell Zakhar "So the detectives think this is your card, Zakhar" and point to the card lying face down between the jacks. "Which card did you choose?" When Zakhar answers: "Five of hearts", ask him to turn the card over - the ion will find five of hearts.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Rapid bioprinting of living tissue 27.08.2019

Scientists in Switzerland and the Netherlands have come up with an optical bioprinting technology that takes just a few seconds to sculpt complex tissue shapes into a biocompatible hydrogel containing stem cells. Printed tissue and organs can be used in in vitro testing of new drugs instead of animal testing.

The technology has been called volumetric bioprinting. To create the tissue, the researchers designed a laser that shines light onto a rotating, transparent container filled with stem cell hydrogel. The energy of light is concentrated in certain places in the hydrogel, which then harden. After a few seconds, a complex three-dimensional figure appears, "suspended" in the gel. The researchers then inject endothelial cells into the resulting tissue to form blood vessels.

Using the new method, scientists have already been able to print several bioconstructions several centimeters in size: an artificial valve similar to a heart valve, a meniscus, and a fragment of a femur with a complex structure.

Using new technology, laboratories can mass-produce artificial tissues or organs at an unprecedented rate. Speed and replication volumes are very important when it comes to in vitro testing of new drugs, and this can help eliminate animal testing. This is a clear ethical advantage, as well as a way to reduce costs.
