Focus Description:

Turning four cards into cards of the same value as chosen by the spectator.

Focus secret:

In order to carry out this trick, you need to have a deck consisting of one card in several copies. We'll assume that this deck of yours is made up of Queens of Diamonds.

Before starting the trick, you must secretly arrange an ordinary deck as follows: put any card on the bottom of the deck, and on it a queen, again any card and a queen, another card and a queen, and finally one more card and the last fourth queen.

Thus, you have four queens below and one card above each of them. Each such card must be of the same suit as the queen lying above it. Shuffle the cards without disturbing the sequence of the bottom eight Then say:

"I intend to take the four cards below and lay them on the table. Would you like to memorize them?" Show the bottom card, then, bringing the deck to a horizontal position, push this card aside, take the next, one of the queens, and, without showing it, put it face down on the table.

You now need to remove the card just shown, which lies at the bottom. In order to do this without arousing suspicion, it is best to shuffle the deck every time a card is drawn, without affecting the bottom eight cards.

At the end of the shuffle, move the bottom card to the top, which should be hidden. Thus, after each shuffle, you have the opportunity to show a new bottom card, which, however, you push back each time, and take out the next card (queen) instead.

Repeat this four times: then all four of your queens will be on the table, although the audience assumes that the four cards they just saw are on the table.

To further convince them of this, ask someone to repeat the name of the four cards. While the attention of the audience is busy with this, you secretly exchange this deck for yours, consisting of identical cards, and, approaching them, say:

"Now I will ask someone to take out a card, and whatever the drawn card is, I undertake to turn the four cards lying on the table into cards of the same value as it, without even touching them. If you take out the king, they will all turn into kings, if ten, all will turn into tens, etc. Now choose any card."

You hold the deck like a fan, turning the back to the one who has to choose, presenting him with complete freedom of choice. It goes without saying, no matter which card he chooses, everything will be the queen of tambourines. You ask him to tell you which card he took out and, having learned that it is a lady, you say:

"I order with my magical power the four cards lying on the table to turn into ladies. Please note that I do not even touch them. I will only touch them with my own wand. That's it! Would it be nice for someone to come and testify that the transformation really happened?"

If you don't have such a special deck and are counting on your own skill by forcing with a regular deck, it doesn't hurt to prepare ahead of time this second deck by placing four queens at the bottom (assuming you want the queen drawn).

By circling as you approach the audience, you bring them to the middle and offer the deck. It is relatively easy to slip one or the other of the four cards stacked together.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Giant Natural Particle Accelerators 16.06.2020

An international team of astrophysicists has found that high-energy gamma rays from quasars are emitted along the entire length of plasma jets (jets) that stretch for thousands of light-years. This makes jets the most gigantic natural particle accelerators.

Gamma rays are generated by many objects in space, including quasars, which are galaxies with an active nucleus. The intensity of radiation varies over short periods of time, which led scientists to believe that the direct source of high-energy radiation is, for example, a supermassive black hole occupying a relatively small region of space.

In a new study, astronomers observed the radio galaxy Centaurus A for 200 hours and identified a gamma-ray-emitting region spanning several thousand light-years. This indicates that the particles are accelerated along the entire length of the plasma jets.

The results indicate that radio galaxies are highly efficient relativistic electron accelerators. These objects make a significant contribution to the redistribution of energy in the intergalactic medium.
