Focus Description:

Invite the viewer to think of any number and perform a series of arithmetic operations with it, and do not name the number that will be the result.

Place a stack of blank sheets of paper in front of him on the table. Cover the paper with a carbon paper, and let the viewer write the intended number on the piece of paper through it. When he does, remove the carbon paper. On the piece of paper it will be written as a carbon copy not the number that he conceived, but his final result.

Focus secret:

In the first part of the trick, you do not need to know and guess the figure conceived by the viewer. You just need to know in advance the number that the viewer will get as a result of a series of arithmetic operations. The viewer can think of any number except zero. Here are some examples:

1. The viewer conceived a number. Offer him to triple it. Subtract 1 from the result. Multiply the result by 5. Add 20 to the result. Divide the result by 15. Subtract the intended figure from the result. The result will be 1.

2. The viewer conceived a figure. Invite him to multiply it by 6. Subtract 3. Multiply by 2. Add 26. Subtract twice the intended number. Divide by 10. Subtract the intended figure. The result will be 2.

3. The viewer conceived a number. Offer him to triple it. Subtract 2. Multiply by 5. Add 5. Divide by 5. Add 1. Divide by the intended number. The result will be 3.

In the second part of the trick, instead of the initial number written under the carbon paper by the viewer on a piece of paper, there should be the final figure of the result written under the carbon paper. To do this, on the second sheet of paper from the top, covered with the top one, write in advance under the carbon paper the final figure of the viewer's result.

On the side of the carbon paper that is in contact with the paper, apply a smear of glue. Putting a carbon paper on a clean (top) sheet, pass the viewer a pencil and offer to write the intended number through it. When the viewer does, move the carbon paper off the stack to the side around the corner. Together with it, the top sheet glued to it will also move, and the viewer will see the second one - with the final result. It will seem that this is the same piece of paper, and it is not known how the carbon paper could turn one number into another.

Focus Carbon paper guesser

A suitable sheet size is 6 x 9 cm. The carbon paper should be slightly larger than it.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Synthetic brain 06.03.2019

According to scientists at the University of California, the creation of a "synthetic brain" is not far off. The first important step towards this has been taken. The fact that a group of scientists began to create a "synthetic brain" was announced in 2012. Its members intend to make a thinking machine with physical intelligence.

In the process of research, experts have found that a network of closely spaced copper columns can grow a nanowire if it is specially treated with silver nitrate.

The wires diverge, as if in random directions. However, they are very similar to the crossing neurons of the brain. At the same time, nanowires organize themselves. At the atomic level, they resemble synapses. These are the points at which two neurons can send signals to one another. Such a reaction is shown by an MRI of the brain when the preservation of memories is displayed there.

When an electrical signal was sent through the resulting network, the nanowires demonstrated an independent organization of information in the likeness of the human brain. That is, when they are networked, they begin to communicate with each other. In a certain sense, this system has already become "alive", showing the interaction.
