Focus Description:

The magician shows the audience an ordinary thread (for example, 50 cm long). Then the magician begins to tear the thread into 4 pieces. He winds three pieces into a ball and leans against the fourth piece, blows on it, pulls on the ends of the fourth small piece of thread and the lump of torn threads is restored into the former long thread.

Focus secret:

Before showing the trick to the audience, you need to prepare a thread. Namely, unwind not 50 cm, but twice as much, i.e. 100 cm. Half of this thread, without tearing off, wind into a ball and hide in the hand that will hold one of the ends of the thread.

Then everything is in focus. We tear the threads into 4 pieces. Three pieces are wound into a ball and tied to the 4th piece. In fact, we hide these three crumpled threads in our hands, and we take out and show the audience an already prepared lump of a whole thread. And as a result, we unwind the second half (second 50 cm) of the thread.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The problem of energy efficiency is solved not only by turning off the light in time: buildings must be built so that they can be easily heated in winter and cooled in summer. At the same time, the roof plays a decisive role; it is not for nothing that it is so carefully insulated.

However, the modern solution to the roof problem is to plant it with plants. For two decades, this technology has reached a high level, but many architects find it difficult to use it. In particular, they are unsure if the roof will deliver the claimed energy efficiency and lower cooling and heating costs for the building. Otherwise, it is difficult to convince the customer to go for additional costs.

A new mathematical model, built by engineers from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, made it possible to carry out an accurate calculation. It turned out that a densely planted roof can reduce the flow of heat coming to the building in summer by 60%.

For the city, the effect is even more significant - a green roof reflects only 9% of the incident heat. This is very important, because it is known that the thermal cap that occurs around megacities noticeably changes the climate within a radius of kilometers from its borders. True, a densely planted roof does not immediately become, because green friends need time to get stronger and become covered with leaves. While they have not grown, energy efficiency will not grow either.
