Focus Description:

Put a transparent glass on the table, and in it - a candle stub half a glass long and light it. Then pour water into the glass until it is almost filled to the brim. A burning candle that is completely under water will continue to burn - nothing will happen to it.

Focus secret:

Focus Unextinguished Candle

Another glass with a diameter smaller than the outer one is glued inside the glass cup. If you look from the side, then the second glass - the same transparent one - will not be noticeable. The burning candle is located in the inner glass, and the water that gets between the walls of the glasses does not prevent it from continuing to burn. It seems to the audience that the entire glass is completely filled with water, which is why a non-extinguishing candle is surprising.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

In a few years, a person will have 12 times more electronics 12.10.2012

Researchers at IHS reported that they expect the wearables market to grow 12x between 2011 and 2016.

Wearable electronics are electronic devices that the user wears or attaches to their body in some way for sufficiently long periods of time. Such devices, containing microcircuits and wireless communication modules, expand human capabilities, IHS explained. According to IHS forecast, between 2016 million and 39 million wearable electronic devices could be delivered to the world market in 171, compared with 14 million, which, according to analysts, were delivered to the market in 2011.

Analysts distinguish four main segments of wearable electronics: fitness and health devices, medical sensors and devices, industrial and military devices, and devices for information and entertainment.

Devices for maintaining physical fitness and health are designed to monitor the activity and emotional state of a person, medical sensors and devices - to monitor the main indicators of the body and supplement the senses. In turn, devices for industrial and military purposes are designed to receive and transmit real-time industrial and military data, and devices for receiving information and entertainment - data related to leisure and lifestyle.

According to experts, the pace of development of the wearable electronics market will depend on the availability of devices, the degree of user satisfaction and, in general, the opportunities that such devices will offer. However, even under the worst-case scenario, the volume of shipments of wearable electronics devices in the period from 2011 to 2016. will grow three times.

Last year, medical sensors and devices for maintaining physical fitness and health became the most popular. In both segments, blood sugar sensors proved to be the most profitable for manufacturers. First of all, Medtronic, Abbott and C8 MediSensor companies, the main manufacturers of such devices, were able to make money on them. The three largest segments in the period under review, as suggested by IHS, will remain the segments of medical sensors and devices, devices for maintaining fitness and health, and devices for information and entertainment.

Analysts are considering various scenarios for the development of these segments and do not exclude that by 2016 the latter segment will occupy the largest part of the market - 38% of total revenue. This forecast is based on the assumption of high growth rates of the smart watch and glasses market. Otherwise, the medical sensors and devices segment may remain the largest segment, while the fitness and health devices segment will be the second largest in terms of revenue, and the information and entertainment devices segment will be the third largest.

The largest consumer of wearable electronics is the United States, and this will not change during the period under review, according to IHS. Europe is expected to be the second largest consumer by 2016, driven mainly by growth in healthcare demand. Japan will also remain one of the largest markets, where demand will mainly be for entertainment devices.
