Focus Description:

In your hand is a large bouquet of flowers. Throw it high up in front of you. Flowers will scatter to the sides. Together with them, four live doves will be in the air!

Focus secret:

Pigeons, stacked side by side together, were inside a bouquet, previously "loosened" for them and then compactly assembled.

When the bouquet is thrown upwards, the flowers will scatter, freeing the doves. It will seem to the audience that the pigeons appeared out of nowhere.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Estimate of human height over 2000 years 11.03.2023

Scientists have published a study examining the growth of adult men and women in Milan over the past 2000 years. It demonstrated a stable effect of the environment on the physique.

Human growth depends on the interplay between genetics and environmental factors such as fetal health, childhood nutrition, the impact of disease, and environmental epigenetic factors that may span previous generations.

While genetics can influence how tall a person can become, the environment in which they were born plays a significant role in how much their genetic growth potential is realized.

In past studies, people's height has been linked to environmental factors. Human stature declined sharply in the transition from hunter-gatherer to agricultural societies. If they used historical facts to make a film about the Trojan War, they would have to hire male actors up to 169 centimeters tall. Since then, human stature has slowly increased, sometimes decreasing during times of war, famine, climate change, and the effects of plague.

In a new study, scientists from the University of Milan analyzed 549 remains of men and women from thirteen locations in Milan. The bones were assigned to one of five historical periods: Roman time (IV century AD), early Middle Ages (VI-X century AD), late Middle Ages (XI-XV century AD), New time ( XVI - XVIII century AD) and the modern era (XIX - XX century AD).

In each group, the remains of about 100 people were evaluated. The height of women ranged from 143,5 to 177,6 centimeters. The average figure turned out to be approximately 157,8 centimeters. The height of men ranged from 152,0 to 195,4 centimeters, with an average of 168,5 centimeters.

Comparing historical periods, scientists have not found significant changes in the growth of people. The authors of the study suggest that urban life in Milan has provided a stable environment for its inhabitants for millennia.
