Make a light boat model out of paper, paint it with waterproof paint. On the sides, strengthen the crossbars, curved from wire, paper clips or hairpins.

Chicken egg jet engine

Carefully make a small hole in the narrow end of the egg, from which release the entire contents. On the egg, you can make a pipe out of paper, but only for decoration. Put a piece of cork on the bottom of the boat, and a piece of eggshell on it. Now pour some water into the egg so that it does not reach the level of the hole. In the shell at the bottom of the boat, put a piece of cotton wool soaked in alcohol, or a piece of dry alcohol. Burning must be vigorous so that the water boils quickly. As soon as the water boils and steam appears, the boat will move forward.

The English scientist Newton is credited with the idea of a jet steam wagon. The forward movement of the wagon had to be carried out by the pushing force of the steam flowing out of the narrow tube of the steam boiler in the direction opposite to the movement of the wagon.

For the first time, the idea of using a jet engine for an aircraft was proposed in Russia in 1886 by the revolutionary N. I. Kibalchich. Its engine was a rocket fueled by compressed gunpowder. This invention was abandoned and was not published for a long time. Independently of him, in 1903, K. E. Tsiolkovsky developed the theory of rockets and proposed the design of a liquid-propellant engine.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Biodegradable implant cools nerves and relieves pain 10.07.2022

American researchers have presented a biodegradable implant in the form of a nerve tape, which, thanks to the cold, blocks the transmission of pain signals.

Tests on rats have shown that the implant successfully cools the nerve to 10 degrees Celsius, reducing sensitivity to mechanical irritation and gradually dissolves safely in the body.

The application of ice or other cold to the damaged area has long been known and used to reduce pain. It works, in part, by reducing the speed and magnitude of the nerve impulse, that is, preventing the transmission of pain signals from the peripheral nerves to the brain. This usually occurs at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius, but prolonged local exposure to cold can cause tissue damage.

In an effort to maximize the effect of a pain relief method with a minimum of unwanted reactions, Northwestern University scientists and colleagues have developed a cooling nerve implant that blocks the transmission of pain signals from an injured part of the body.

The invention is in the form of a tape only five millimeters wide, which is designed to wrap one end of the nerve during surgery, while the other end is connected when leaving the body with a small pump.

The base is made from a flexible, biocompatible polymer that forms a microfluidic system of channels that controllably pump perfluoropentane coolant and nitrogen gas. When these two chemicals are combined in the duct system, the perfluoropentane evaporates, creating a cooling effect. The tape also contains an electronic temperature measurement system for its control.
