Warm the glass well (gradually so that it does not burst) with boiling water and lower it, as in last time, upside down in a plate, but with hot water. The hotter the water, the better for our experience.

Do not forget to put a cork on the water, which should get inside the glass. At first glance, everything is the same as last time. The bottom of the plate, where the glass stands, is also almost without water. The only difference is that the inner surface of the glass is fogged up from hot water. Leave now for a long time a plate with water and a glass, until it all cools down well.

When the water and the glass finally cool down, you will see that the water inside the glass, along with the stopper, has risen above the level of the water in the plate. The air in the glass cooled down, shrunk, began to take up less space, and the external atmospheric pressure drove water from the plate into the glass.

A similar experience can be done in the kitchen when you are washing the dishes. If you rinse the glass jar well, first with warm and then hot water and, turning it over, leave it on the oilcloth, then after a while, when the jar has completely cooled down, you will see that it has stuck quite firmly to the oilcloth.

You need to make some effort to tear the jar from the oilcloth. The air inside the jar cooled down, its volume decreased, and the external atmospheric pressure pressed the wet oilcloth against the jar.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Headphones that can self-disinfect 13.04.2020

Philips followed one of the main trends in the electronics market in recent years and also released fully wireless headphones - Philips ActionFi. Unlike other gadgets of this class, the novelty received an extremely unusual disinfection function.

The complete case provides a built-in ultraviolet lamp that destroys bacteria and other microscopic enemies of mankind. So using Philips headphones will help you avoid ear infections. The headphones themselves have received a protected design that meets the IPX5 certification, which means that Philips ActionFit is not afraid of water jets, but they still will not survive immersion in liquid.

The headphones are based on 6 mm drivers capable of reproducing frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Philips ActionFit can last up to 6 hours on a single charge. If you periodically recharge the gadget in a case, the novelty is able to provide up to 18 hours of battery life. Fast charging is also provided - 15 minutes in the case is enough for 1,5 hours of playback.
