Foreign bodies can get into the throat, esophagus, respiratory tract, into the eye, under the skin, etc.

The pharynx, esophagus and respiratory tract often get food fish and meat bones during meals, as well as pins, buttons, small nails and other items that are taken into the mouth during work. This can cause pain, difficulty breathing, coughing, and even suffocation.

Attempts to cause the passage of a foreign body through the esophagus into the stomach by eating crusts of bread, porridge, potatoes in most cases do not give success, therefore, in any case, be sure to contact a medical institution.

Foreign bodies in the form of small particles (fragments of metal, stone, wood, grains of sand, insects, etc.), getting into the eye, cause pain, tearing and can lead to damage and vision loss. If a mote gets into the eye, then you can remove it by washing the eye with a stream of water (from a glass, from cotton wool or gauze, using a drinking fountain), directed from the outer corner of the eye (from the temple) to the inner (towards the nose). You can also turn the eyelid inside out and remove the mote with a clean, damp cotton swab or a clean handkerchief (Fig. 45).

You should not rub your eyes.

You can not remove the mote from the cornea yourself. This should be done only by medical personnel, and as early as possible: the longer the mote injures the cornea, the greater the risk of complications, up to the formation of an ulcer. After applying a dry sterile bandage to the eye (Fig. 46), you need to send the victim to a medical facility as soon as possible.

Foreign bodies that have fallen into soft tissues (under the skin, under the nail, etc.) are dangerous because microbes are introduced into the tissues along with them, which cause an inflammatory process around the foreign body. It is possible to remove a foreign body from soft tissues by yourself only if there is confidence that this can be done easily and completely. At the slightest difficulty, you should consult a doctor. After removing the foreign body, the site of its introduction should be lubricated with iodine and a sterile dressing should be applied.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. honeycomb cube 17.05.2011

Base stations of cellular telephony often spoil the appearance of buildings. A group of French and American engineers demonstrated their invention at the World Mobile Communications Congress in Barcelona - a miniature base station in the form of a cube a little larger than the famous Rubik's cube.

Such a device will not be very noticeable on the building, its power consumption is reduced, and the signal is less susceptible to interference.
