Many television and amateur radio antennas use a Pistohlkors vibrator as an active element. It has an input impedance of about 300 ohms, and therefore, when connected to a 75 ohm coaxial cable, a balancing-matching U-knee is often used. Such a connection is used so widely that it does not even come to mind that it can be a source of radio reception problems. On fig. 1. connection of a single loop vibrator is shown. Pistolkors isolated from other elements of the antenna. In this case, interference and interference on the vibrator itself are small and there are no problems.

Critically about the U-knee

The situation is quite different when this node is included in a complex multi-element antenna on a common traverse and mast (Fig. 2). In this option, all interference and pickups on the mast, traverse, and guys are directly connected to the central core of the coaxial cable and freely reach the receiving device. Especially unfavorable is the case of using a broadband antenna amplifier at the input without channel filters at the input. Damage to the input circuits is also possible during a lightning discharge nearby.

Or maybe you have noticed that a motorcyclist passing by only interferes with you, while your neighbor, with his simple vibrator directly connected to a coaxial cable (... without balancing - what an abomination! ..), has no interference ?! It is quite possible that the interference penetration channel described above is to blame for this.

You can solve this problem in different ways:

- The active vibrator of your antenna MUST be isolated from the mast and traverse.
- The soldering point of the ends of the cables must be connected in the shortest way to the middle point of the vibrator (see Fig. 3). This can be done with an already installed antenna.
- Abandon the U-knee altogether by applying antenna amplifier with balanced input and connecting it directly to the vibrator terminals (see Fig. 4).

To the last point, we can add that, generally speaking, the Pistohlkors stub-vibrator as part of a multi-element antenna has a resistance of about 240 Ohms (for example, in the Spindler antenna) due to the influence of passive elements. Therefore, 240/4 = 60 Ohm is transformed to the drop cable and it is just right to connect a 50 Ohm cable! The use of an antenna amplifier with a balanced input will make it possible to make 100% matching.
It is useful for ultra-shortwave radio amateurs who use a U-elbow in their antennas to imagine that the entire mast with guys (and bad contacts) is connected to the output of the transmitter. Maybe this is the reason for TVI?

PS Only by connecting the U-bend as shown in Fig. 5, it was possible to obtain an acceptable quality of receiving TV programs, with the location of the receiving wave channel 20 meters from the canvas of the transmitting short-wave antenna SGD-8 / 8-RA, on which a 2 watt transmitter worked!

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Fish fillet from a 3D printer 05.05.2023

Israeli company Steakholder Foods has 3D printed an edible fish fillet. Previously, they gave mankind lab-grown steaks, pieces of beef and much more in the same way.

The 3D-printed sea bass fillet hasn't hit the market yet, but it could be soon. Scientists note that cultured natural sea bass cells were used for printing, and then included in bio-ink for XNUMXD printing.

Fish fillet can be consumed immediately after printing, and its taste is not inferior to natural. However, it is indeed a real sea bass fillet, since natural cells were used for printing.

The fillet was tasted at the Steakholder territory, where the guests of the event were treated to dishes of Israeli and Singaporean cuisine. It just melts in your mouth and crumbles into particles like a real fish.
