One way to connect metal parts is brazing. With the correct selection of flux and solder, such connections are more reliable and can withstand fairly high loads.

Brazing is carried out with various gas burners, with and without pressurization, using liquefied propane as fuel.

A homemade injection burner can be powered from liquefied propane cylinders with a capacity of 1 liter (and the cylinders must be equipped with a valve with a hose) or from cylinders with a capacity of 25 liters.

The figure shows the burner design. All its parts are extremely simple and do not require high qualifications during manufacture.

The torch head is made from steel pipe or turned from Steel 3 or Steel 45 on a lathe. There are four holes in the nozzle pipe that can be covered with an internal liner; This regulates the air suction, which forms the burner flame. The liner itself is also machined from steel; it can be made as a monolithic part or composed of three separate ones, followed by soldering with hard solder. In this case, an asterisk and a short section of pipe are attached to a bushing mounted on the gas supply tube.

The gas supply channel is made of a copper or brass tube with an outer diameter of 6 mm and a wall thickness of at least 1 mm. A gas valve with a hose for connecting to the cylinder is attached to one end of the tube. A nipple from a kerosene stove is screwed onto the other end of the tube, with the working part sharpened to a cone. To do this, there is no need to make any tip, since the connecting part of the primus nipple has an M5 thread, and you just need to cut the M5 thread inside the pipe and screw the nipple. In addition, at the same end of the pipe there is a tightly seated liner onto which the nozzle tube is placed.

To adjust the burner flame, open the valve, supply gas to the burner and ignite it. Then, by moving the nozzle tube towards the blocking of the four air intake holes, stable combustion is achieved. The flame can also be adjusted by changing the gas supply to the burner.

After obtaining a flame of the desired intensity and shape, the position of the nozzle tube is fixed with a clamping screw.

This burner operates steadily and produces an even flame, allowing small parts to be heated to a temperature of 1100°C.

If you do not have silver-based solders on hand, you can use plain brass wire or any copper-nickel alloys.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
