Japanese designers are developing ways to protect against the attacks of sea pirates, which suffer ships in Southeast Asia.

The Togapotop system (translated as "tiger cage") reacts to the hit of metal hooks, which are the main weapon of pirates, on the deck of the ship. When hit by such hooks, the wire stretched along the sides bends or breaks, as a result of which a system of mirrors and fiber optic cables is activated, and a powerful searchlight is turned on, illuminating the place of attack.
