Thyristor optocouplers AOU115A, AOU115B, AOU115V, AOU115G, AOU115D consist of a gallium arsenide IR emitter and a photodetector - a silicon photodinistor, isolated from one another by an optically transparent mass. The devices are manufactured using hybrid technology.

Optocouplers are produced in a plastic case with rigid plate leads (Fig. 1). The mass of the device is not more than 0,8 g. The key in determining the pinout of the optocoupler is the upper part of the case in the figure, beveled at an angle of 45 degrees.

The dependence of the insulation resistance on the applied voltage is shown in fig. 5.

AOU115 series optocouplers

In terms of their parameters, optocouplers of the AOU115 series are close to similar devices AOU103A - AOU103V, ZOU10ZA - ZOU103D and for most applications can replace them at a lower cost.

Notes

  1. The maximum input interference voltage is the highest direct voltage at the input of the optocoupler, at which it does not switch from closed to open.
  2. For optocouplers AOU115A, AOU115B, AOU115G reverse voltage supply is not allowed.
  3. Conduction angle (previously used the term burning angle) - part of the period of the sinusoidal current of the thyristor in angular terms, during which the device is open, i.e., it passes the load current.
  4. The smallest output voltage on a closed photodinistor is the smallest voltage at which it is still able to open.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

oblate star 01.02.2004

Stars, according to all textbooks of astronomy, are giant balls of hot plasma. However, French astrophysicists from the University of Nice, using an optical interferometer consisting of several telescopes, found that one of the stars in the southern hemisphere of the sky is not at all spherical in shape.

By measuring the diameter of the star Alpha Eridani (another name given by Arab astronomers is Achernar) in different directions, the astrophysicists obtained the figure shown here. Two variants of the star's shape are calculated, as astronomers are not entirely sure where its axis lies. A star located in the constellation Eridanus is, if a ball, then strongly flattened and beveled: either a melon or a pumpkin.

The reasons for this strange shape are unclear: either Achernar rotates faster than astronomers calculated from the spectrum of the star, or some very unusual processes are going on inside it. This option is not excluded: Alpha Eridanus has an invisible satellite that distorts its shape with its attraction.

The Earth is also flattened, but only slightly: its radius along the equator is less than the radius going to the pole, by only 0,3 percent. In Alpha Eridani, this difference exceeds 50 percent.
