I solved the problem of frequently burning incandescent lighting lamps by assembling the protection device offered to the attention of readers. Lamps equipped with such devices have been operating without replacement for two years.

The scheme of the device is shown in fig. 1. Here EL1 is the protected lamp, SA1 is its switch. Through a rectifier on the diode bridge VD1, a composite transistor VT1VT2 is connected to the lamp circuit. At the moment of closing the contacts of the switch SA1, the capacitor C1 is discharged and the composite transistor is closed. Therefore, only a small charging current of the capacitor C1 flows through the lamp, depending on the value of the resistor R1.

The graph in fig. 2 shows the dependence of the voltage across the capacitor on the time elapsed since switching on. When the voltage reaches a value sufficient to open the composite transistor, the current flowing through the lamp gradually increases to the nominal value, as shown in the graph of Fig. 3. A further increase in the voltage across the capacitor stops, because the base section of the transistor VT1 - the emitter of the transistor VT2 acts as a kind of stabistor.

Transistor VT2 should be installed on a heat sink with an area proportional to the power of the protected lamp or several lamps connected in parallel. Their total power should not exceed 240 W, while the area of the dissipating surface of the heat sink should be at least 400 cm2. It is allowed to replace the KT840A transistor with KT828A or KT828B. Imported diode bridge D3SB can be replaced by any other for voltage 300V and current 1...3A.

When you first turn on the protective device, measure the voltage between the collector and emitter of the transistor VT2 in steady state. If it is more than 15 ... 25 V, it is necessary to replace the resistor R1 with another one of a smaller rating. The turn-on delay can be changed by selecting the capacitor C1. Please note that between turning off the lamp and turning it on again, enough time must pass so that the capacitor C1 has time to discharge. Otherwise, the protective effect of the device will be incomplete.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Electric motor without magnets 20.05.2021

German experts have developed the first electric motor, the efficiency level of which is 95%. Some of the usual materials are not used in its design.

Introduced the first motor that does not contain rare earth materials. Such an engine does not harm the environment. This does not affect its effectiveness in any way - it, on the contrary, has increased to 95%.

As early as 5 years ago, Honda announced that it was starting to develop a deformed magnet that does not contain rare earth materials. At the time, it was considered an important breakthrough. With a successful outcome, the company could start producing electric motors without heavy metals.

German motor supplier Mahle presented its own project - the first ever electric motor that does not use magnets. Now the engine is going through the last stage of development. The main feature is that it does not need to use rare earth elements to create it.

Such a breakthrough will make production more environmentally friendly. In addition, the new electric motor has advantages in terms of resource costs.
