7.7.12. Overhead lines of peat electrical installations are allowed to be built on peat deposits and in developed quarries.

7.7.13. For overhead line supports with a service life of up to 5 years, the use of unimpregnated coniferous wood is allowed. The diameter of the VL supports in the upper cut must be at least 14 cm.

7.7.14. The choice of wire cross-sections for overhead lines up to 10 kV should be made according to the allowable continuous current and allowable voltage loss.

The calculated value of the voltage loss in the line, taking into account the supply cable in normal operation for the most remote power receiver, is allowed up to 10% of the rated voltage of the substation transformers. The highest allowable value of voltage loss in the line when starting short-circuited electric motors is not standardized and is determined by the possibility of starting and the reliability of the operation of electric motors.

7.7.15. Joint suspension on common supports of wires of overhead lines up to 1 kV and wires of overhead lines above 1 kV is allowed. At the same time, the vertical distance between the suspension points of overhead lines up to 1 kV and overhead lines above 1 kV should be at least 1,5 m. Double fastening should be used throughout the joint suspension for overhead lines above 1 kV.

7.7.16. The distance from the wires of overhead lines up to 10 kV to the ground with the largest sag on the territory of the peat enterprise, with the exception of roads and populated areas, must be at least 5 m.

7.7.17. To ensure the safe passage of vehicles under the wires of the overhead line without removing the voltage, special spans with an increased height of the wires must be built. In this case, the distance between the lowest point of the wire and the highest part of the highest machine must be at least 2 m for overhead lines up to 10 kV, 2,5 m for overhead lines 20-35 kV.

7.7.18. When passing overhead lines up to 10 kV parallel to the narrow gauge railway track, the distance from the base of the support to the clearance of the buildings must be at least the height of the support plus 1 m.

On sections of a cramped route, the distance from the base of the overhead line support up to 380 V, designed to illuminate access roads, to the rail head must be at least 5 m.

7.7.19. When passing an overhead line up to 10 kV parallel to a narrow gauge portable railway track, the distance from the base of the overhead line support to the rail head must be at least 5 m.

7.7.20. When passing overhead lines up to 10 kV parallel to the axis of caravans or field piles of peat, the distance from the base of the support to the base of the caravan or pile, with their full dimensions, must be at least 4 m.

7.7.21. When passing overhead lines up to 10 kV near a metal overhead pipeline, the distance from the overhead line supports to the pipeline must be at least 8 m. It is allowed to reduce this distance to 3 m, provided that casings or visors are installed on the flanges of the pipeline.

7.7.22. When passing overhead lines up to 10 kV parallel to a wooden pipeline, the distance from the overhead line supports to the pipeline must be at least 15 m.

When crossing overhead lines with a wooden pipeline, solid steel casings must be installed above the pipeline. In this case, the distance from the part of the pipeline not covered by the casing to the projection of the wires of the overhead line must be at least 15 m.

7.7.23. On branches with a length of more than 1 km of overhead lines above 1 kV, as well as in front of stationary installations (low-pressure pumping stations, etc.), disconnectors must be installed.

7.7.24. The distance from the input wires of the overhead line supplying the mobile electrical installation up to 10 kV to the ground must be at least 3 m. The passage under the input wires must be fenced.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Road traffic can exacerbate allergies 20.12.2018

A new study by American scientists has shown that air currents from heavy traffic can disperse ragweed seeds tens of meters from their starting location - a huge boost compared to the usual 1-meter seed travel radius from parent plants.

The researchers set up a field experiment to determine how far ragweed seeds travel on a busy road with fast moving cars compared to less busy roads. In each trial, they placed 100 seeds dyed with fluorescent paint along the edges of roads where they would normally fall, allowing moving vehicles to decide their fate. The scientists then returned with UV lamps to mark the new positions of the seeds.

Within 48 hours, the seeds moved to new locations. Most remained close to their original location. But air currents, due to heavy traffic, moved some of the seeds tens of meters: in the record case, this distance was 71 meters - about two-thirds of the length of an American football field. Even on roads with less traffic, the seeds were scattered over distances of up to 40 meters.

The researchers then mapped roadside ragweed sites for two years in a row to see how much ragweed populations increased in the direction of traffic. In the second year, the team registered twice as many seedlings in the direction of traffic, compared to the opposite direction, where the influence of cars was almost zero.

The study links the spread of an allergic plant species to traffic patterns for the first time. The results show that people suffering from seasonal allergies can be helped by carefully mowing roadside plants. But the right time to mow is just before the seeds are ripe, otherwise the mowers will spray them even further.
