Simple receivers with an intermediate frequency (IF) of 465 kHz have, as a rule, low selectivity. There is no or very little out-of-band suppression in such receivers.

The proposed scheme allows to improve the suppression of the lower sideband by 23...24 dB and can be built into almost any receiver with 465 kHz IF. The circuit contains two mixers on anti-parallel diodes and phase shifters, described by V. Polyakov [1].

Setting the local oscillator is produced by the L3 core and the selection of capacitance C3. The generation frequency should be set to about 232 kHz. At the same time, noise is heard in the phones of the included receiver, the level of which decreases when the core is screwed in or unscrewed. By screwing in the core, you should find the position at which the noise begins to decrease, while the generation frequency corresponds to the lower slope of the frequency response of the IF. This can be done more accurately if there is a GKCH (frequency response meter). By connecting an oscilloscope or an RF voltmeter to the L4 tap, adjust the L5, C6 circuit to resonance (232 kHz). Then apply a signal from the GSS to the input of the IF, corresponding to the lower sideband (460 ... 464 kHz), and with the resistor R5 achieve the minimum signal at the receiver output.

Details

The ratio of the number of turns of coils L1 and L2 is 4:1...2:1. For standard IF circuits with ferrite cups, L2 has 15 ... 30 turns. For L3, L4 and L5 cores SB-1 are used. L3 contains 100 turns, L5 - 200 turns with a tap from the middle, L4 - 30 turns. Wire - with a diameter of 0,12 ... 0,15 mm. L6 and L7 - chokes D0,1 500 μH. L8 is wound in two wires and has 400 ... 500 turns. The wire is 0,1 mm in diameter, the core is ShZxb from a small-sized ULF transformer. L9 - 300 turns of wire 0,1mm on the ring K 16x8x4 2000 IM. Capacitors C2, C3, C4 - KSO type.

In the manufactured receiver, the non-working sideband suppression was obtained by at least 26 dB. In the IF path, a piezofilter FP1P-0,15 was used.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Portable Wi-Fi Router with Battery Backup Function 10.01.2014

D-Link announced the launch of the world's first 802.11ac (11AC) portable Wi-Fi router capable of simultaneously acting as a battery backup for mobile devices.

A device called Wi-Fi AC750 Portable Router and Charger (DIR-510L) is aimed at users who, while traveling frequently, would like to be able to turn any available Internet connection into an access point on a trip.

Working in two frequency bands, the router supports data transfer with a total speed of up to 750 Mbps. Each band (2,4 and 5,0 GHz) can be used for a separate Wi-Fi network, which allows you to tailor the connection to specific needs, for example, provide guest Internet access without access to a second local network.

The built-in battery capacity of the router is 4000 mAh. The presence of two USB ports allows you to simultaneously recharge the battery of your mobile device and share a flash drive or a 3G, 4G or LTE modem.

The price of Wi-Fi AC750 Portable Router and Charger (DIR-510L) is $100. So far, visitors to CES 2014 can see the novelty, but this month it should begin to appear on store windows.
