Recently, many radio amateur designers have increasingly had to deal with electronic devices that are powered by the vehicle's on-board network. These are powerful car radios and radio stations, as well as special electronic systems. Such devices consume a current of about 3 A, so when they are used in stationary conditions, there is a problem with the power supply.
The VU-1 rectifier manufactured by the Ulyanovsk Instrument-Making Plant, designed to charge car batteries, will help solve it. The fact is that "VU-1", in fact, is half of the desired device. It has sufficient power (up to 100 W). It remains only to supplement it with a stabilizing prefix for a voltage of 12 V at a current of up to 6 A. The prefix is made according to the classical scheme (Fig. 3.17) of a voltage stabilizer from non-deficient parts of low cost.
