The proposed device is simple and cheap. Nevertheless, it can be used to check and repair telephones, using an oscilloscope in difficult cases.

The diagram of the device is shown in the figure. It consists of the following nodes: call node, dial control node, power node. The call node consists of capacitor C3, resistor R5, button SB1 (non-latching) and normally closed relay contacts K1.1. The dialing control unit includes relay K1, zener diode VD3, diode VD2, LEDs HL1, HL2, resistors R1-R4, transistor VT1. The HL2 LED controls the opening of the line when dialing, and HL1 - the circuit. The power node contains a network transformer T1, a diode bridge VD1 and a capacitor C1.

A simple device for checking phones

When the telephone is on-hook (hereinafter TA), its DC resistance is high, relay K1 does not work, LED HL2 is off, and HL1 is on. When the SB1 button is closed, the alternating voltage from the winding III is supplied to the TA. The caller of a healthy SLT should sound the call. Capacitor C3 is needed to limit the ringing current, and resistor R5 is needed to discharge this capacitor.

The dialing control node operates as follows. When the TA tube is raised, its resistance sharply decreases, the K1 relay is activated, the HL2 LED turns on, the normally closed contacts of the K1.1 relay open and the ringing signal to the TA will be prohibited. The HL1 LED will continue to shine, since the voltage at the output of the device will be set within 8 ... 15 V, and it is enough to open the transistor VT1. A hum with a frequency of 100 Hz will be heard in the telephone capsule of the SLT, which makes it possible to dispense with the use of an additional audio frequency generator to test the telephone capsule of the handset of the SLT.

When dialing the number, the HL1 and HL2 LEDs should blink. During pulse dialing, the TA periodically closes and opens the subscriber telephone line. When opened, HL2 goes out, when closed, HL1 goes out. Resistor R3 is chosen so that the HL1 LED goes out when the output terminals are closed and lights up in all other cases.

To test the microphone, you must connect an oscilloscope with a closed input to the output terminals. Saying various words into the TA tube, check the microphone with an oscilloscope. However, practice shows that such a malfunction of electronic TA is rare.

Any low-power mains transformer with winding voltage II 25...30 V at a current of 50...100 mA and winding voltage III 50...70 V at a current of 50...100 mA is suitable for the device. Thus, the voltage at the output of the device with the telephone set on-hook (or its absence) should be about 40 V.

Capacitor C1 - any oxide. It is undesirable to use a larger capacitor than indicated in the diagram, as this will reduce the ripples, and they are necessary to test the telephone capsule. Capacitors C2 and C3 are non-polar, for example, MBM. Relay K1 - RES22 (passport 131) with a winding resistance of 750 Ohm or another with an operating voltage of 22 ... 30 V and a response current of 20 ... 35 mA. Diode bridge VD1 - any for a voltage of at least 50 V and a current of 100 mA. Zener diode VD3 can be replaced with KS147A. Diode VD2 must withstand a reverse voltage of 100 V and a forward current of at least 50 mA. Transistor KT503D can be replaced by KT503E.

When setting up the device, it is necessary to select the resistor R3 so that the HL1 LED reliably goes out when the output terminals are closed and glows when two silicon diodes connected in series (anodes to VD2) are connected to them.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Diesel from a palm tree 08.07.2011

The Finns have built the world's largest plant for processing palm oil into diesel fuel in Singapore.

Oil is pressed from the pulp of the fruits of the oil palm and from their seeds. Plum-sized fruits hang in clusters weighing 40-50 kilograms. Approximately 7250 liters of oil are obtained per hectare of plantation. It is used in Africa (where this type of palm comes from) and in Southeast Asia for cooking, although palm oil has been reported to increase blood cholesterol levels.

Countries within 25 degrees of latitude of the equator produce about 40 million tons of palm oil each year, about a third of the world's production of all edible vegetable fats. The Singapore plant will annually produce 800 thousand tons of diesel fuel, capable of completely replacing the same fuel from oil (the total production of biodiesel in the world is now 2 million tons).

The production is based on a new process, the details of which were not disclosed. To get a ton of biodiesel, you need to process 1,23 tons of oil, a by-product is combustible gas. Raw materials come mainly from nearby Malaysia. Palm oil diesel produces 45% less soot and 20% less nitrogen oxides in engine exhaust than conventional diesel.
