The converter allows you to use old-style TVs, as well as 3rd and 4th generation TVs that do not have an ACS unit for receiving UHF.

The converter allows you to view television programs in the decimeter range from the 21st to the 60th channels with conversion to the meter range from the 1st to the 12th channels. The converter is connected to the antenna input of MB TV.

Schematic diagram of the converter is shown in fig. 1. It consists of RF amplifier, mixer, local oscillator.

UHF converter

The radio frequency amplifier is assembled on a microwave transistor VT1 type KT3198B, the converter is assembled on a K174PS4 chip, which is specially designed for use as a mixer.

As a local oscillator, a KT3128A transistor is used, connected according to a common base circuit.

The UHF signal coming from the antenna, selected by the C1, L1, C2 circuit, is amplified by the VT1 transistor, and from the L2, L3 circuit it goes to the D1 chip, where it is converted into meter range frequencies.

The local oscillator operates at frequencies from 421 MHz to 560 MHz. i.e. covers 139 MHz, which allows you to convert any of the UHF channels in the range from 477 MHz to 789 MHz into a meter.

So, for example, to convert the 21st channel into a meter, it is enough to tune the local oscillator to a frequency of 421 MHz, we get 477 MHz - 421 MHz = 56 MHz, i.e. 1st channel, similarly on other channels, while on other channels you can get up to 5 channels of the meter range (see table 1).

The converter is powered by a stabilized power supply 9...12 V. Current consumption - no more than 30 mA.

Structural data of the coils are shown in Fig. 2, a drawing of the printed circuit board on a scale of 1: 1 - in Fig. 3.

UHF converter

The converter uses resistors of the C1-4-0,125 type; capacitors C1, C2, C3, C9, C10 - type KD-2, capacitors C4, C5, C6 - type K10-7B, capacitor C7 - type KT-23 8/30 pF, capacitor C8 - from the VHF receiver unit "Ocean" .

The details of the converter are placed on a single-sided printed circuit board made of foil fiberglass 1 mm thick. The converter is placed in the housing of a standard ACS unit. The local oscillator stage is separated from the rest of the converter by a tin partition.

UHF converter
Fig. 4. Adjusting the converter comes down to tuning the local oscillator to the desired frequencies.

At the maximum capacitance of the capacitor C8, by slowly rotating the capacitor C7, the reception of the 21st channel is achieved on the 1st channel, and at the minimum capacitance of the capacitor C8, by the slow rotation of the capacitor C7, the reception of the 60th channel is achieved on the 12th channel.

With this setting, all channels of the decimeter range fall into the conversion band of the converter.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Car tire with 5G connectivity 19.03.2020

The new Pirelli Cinturato P7 tire model is designed for premium cars and features improved wet performance, improved hydroplaning resistance and a 4-meter reduction in braking distance from 100 km/h.

According to the engineers of the Italian company, the use of new technologies in the Cinturato P7 has improved acoustic comfort and smoothness while driving, as well as increasing the life of new tires by 6%. In addition, the new tires have a 12% reduction in rolling resistance and a 4% improvement in fuel consumption (WLTP cycle), resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions.

The new Pirelli Cinturato P7 is the first car tire to feature 5G connectivity, which will eventually enable the exchange of information collected by tires to warn drivers of dangerous road situations such as the risk of hydroplaning.

In addition, the Cinturato P7 features Run Flat and Seal Inside technologies that allow you to continue moving with a tire puncture, and there is also a version of the Elect tire specifically for electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids.

The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the famous Pirelli Cinturato tire.
