In chemistry, the reaction time depends on the temperature. The high temperature of the coil of a homemade electric heater accelerates oxidation. The air in a heated room turns into nitric oxide - a strong carcinogen. Those who are ignorant of the technique desire to have "strong" spirals that glow brightly. Such spirals quickly burn out, turning into scale.
It is possible to lower the temperature of the coil without significantly changing its resistance by increasing the mass. The experiment confirmed that increasing the mass of the spiral by 2-4 times increases its life almost to infinity.
It is almost impossible to order a spiral with a large mass from artisanal manufacturers. They know their business well and flatly refuse to "cut the branch on which they sit." How to increase the mass of bazaar spirals? You can take two spirals and, putting one into the other, turn it on through a powerful diode or several diodes connected in parallel (Fig. 1).

The temperature of the combined coil decreases in proportion to the increase in volume (mass), and the amount of heat does not change.
