Once again about Ural 84M

Section Civil radio communications. After repeated repetition of the Ural 84M transceiver, some of its components had to be slightly modified. The quality of the transceiver's operation has improved, its reliability has improved, and tuning has become easier. The power supply proposed by the author Ural 84m was not repeated, because. I do not see the point of using RF and microwave transistors in this node. I use two separate sources to get +12 V and +40 V. The +12 V stabilizer is easiest to perform on MC KREN8B. The +40 V stabilizer is made according to the circuit shown in fig. 1. It is not afraid of short circuits in the load and is very convenient because the regulating transistor is directly attached to the chassis without insulating gaskets ... >>

Voltage polarity converter, 15 volts 0,1 amps

Section Voltage converters, rectifiers, inverters. It is known that it is possible to fully realize the capabilities of operational amplifiers only when they are powered from a bipolar source. However, more often than not, only a unipolar source is available in the home laboratory of a radio amateur. To power devices with a relatively small number of op amps (consuming current up to 100 mA), you can use a converter that allows you to generate a bipolar voltage. The converter (Fig. 4.27) consists of a rectangular pulse generator made on the elements DD1.1, DD1.2, a shaper on inverters DD1.3 ... DD1.6 connected in parallel (to increase the load capacity of the generator) and four switches: two - on transistors VT1, VT2 and VT3, VT4 and two - on diodes VD2, VD3 and VD4, VD5 ... >>

Music phrase generator on integrated timers

Section Telephony. The 555 Universal Integrated Timer has another use in a cheap music synthesizer that plays back musical phrases from simple songs. This uses two timers: one generates the rhythm, and the other generates tones. The circuit shown in the figure acts as a phone buzzer, it plays the first 10 notes of the song Beautiful Girl, like a melody. When the control input of timer 1 is connected to the supply voltage Vcc, the melody is repeated continuously ... >>

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Gravitational waves fixed 10.09.2012

With the help of data obtained as a result of the study of a pair of white dwarfs located very close to each other, scientists were able to verify the existence of gravitational waves. The latest issue of The Astrophysical Journal Letters reports that for the first time astronomers have managed to capture gravitational waves, or rather, their consequences. Be that as it may, the existence of these waves, predicted by Einstein in his General Theory of Relativity, seems to have been proven, and this fact in itself can serve as a serious basis for the Nobel Prize.

The existence of gravitational waves was discovered by an inter-university team of US scientists by observing a system of two white dwarfs called SDSS J065133.338+284423.37 (or J0651 for short). This system, located 13 light-years from Earth, was discovered last year. Its distinguishing feature is the unusual proximity of the planets to each other - the distance between them is three times less than from the Earth to the Moon, and their period of rotation around each other is less than XNUMX minutes.

According to Einstein's theory, objects moving along a curve should bend space-time, causing gravitational ripples on its surface, in other words, long-sought gravitational waves. True, for these waves to become noticeable, gravitational perturbations must be incredibly large. Such, for example, as in the case of the movement of almost merged white dwarfs. The theory of general relativity requires that these perturbations increase the energy of both stars, speeding up their movement and reducing the distance between them. Such an acceleration should occur without the intervention of relativistic effects and affect the frequency of oppositions of the system, in other words, "dwarf eclipses". According to scientists, since April 2011, the period of such eclipses in the J0651 system has decreased by 6 seconds.

One of the team members, Warren Brown of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, who is leading the study, says the relativistic effect was so strong "that it could be measured with an ordinary wristwatch." According to calculations, by May 2013 this period will be reduced by another 20 seconds, thereby accelerating the moment of complete merger of stars. The merger itself will occur a little later - in about two million years.
