First aid for electric shock. Artificial respiration according to the "mouth to mouth" method. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Electrical safety, fire safety RџSЂRё artificial respiration in the mouth-to-mouth method, the caregiver draws as much air into the lungs as possible and exhales vigorously into the lungs of the victim through his mouth or nose. Exhaled air contains more than 16% oxygen, and the volume of air entering in this case into the lungs of the victim is about four times greater than with other methods of artificial respiration. At the same time, the pulmonary alveoli actively expand and reflex excitation of the respiratory center of the brain occurs, which determines the effectiveness of the use of such artificial respiration, not accidentally called the "kiss of life" (Fig. 76).
Before starting artificial respiration, it is necessary to make sure that the upper respiratory tract of the victim is free for the passage of air. If it is not possible to open the mouth, one should carefully insert any board, metal plate, spoon handle, etc. into the corner of the mouth between the molars and unclench the teeth. Then it is necessary to remove liquid and mucus from the oral cavity (if they have accumulated) using a handkerchief or any other soft tissue, if there are removable teeth or dentures, they must be removed. Only after this, the victim is placed on his back, the assisting person kneels at the head of the victim from any side. One hand should be placed under the neck of the victim, and with the other hand, tilt his head back as much as possible. Then it is necessary to pinch the nostrils (to exclude the possibility of the exit of the blown air through the nose) with the thumb and forefinger of the hand with which the head was thrown back. In this position, the assisting person takes a deep breath and, pressing his mouth tightly (through a handkerchief or gauze) to the victim’s open mouth, blows air sharply and strongly for 5 seconds so that the victim’s chest rises noticeably. After this, it is necessary to move away from the victim so as not to interfere with the free exit of air from the lungs. It is better to blow air through special rubber tubes produced by the industry. One end of the tube, up to the oval flange on it, is inserted into the victim's mouth so that it enters the windpipe, and not the esophagus. At the end of the exhalation, the assisting person takes a deep breath and the whole cycle repeats. Such injections should be done at least 12-15 per minute (in the rhythm of one's own breathing). If the victim's jaws are tightly clenched and cannot be quickly unclenched, it is necessary to blow air into the victim's nose. When helping young children, air is blown into the mouth and nose simultaneously. The frequency of injections in this case should be 15-18 per minute. The volume of air blown in decreases according to the age of the child. If the victim began to breathe on his own, then artificial respiration should be continued for some time, blowing in air at the same time as the victim begins to inhale. The pulse is best checked at the neck by pressing two fingers (thumb and forefinger) against the arteries on both sides of the neck. In addition to artificial respiration, it is necessary to do heart massage in parallel. Author: Korshevr N.G. See other articles Section Electrical safety, fire safety.
