Most modern audio frequency power amplifiers (UMZCH) are built without coupling capacitors at the output. If the amplifier malfunctions, the appearance of a constant voltage at the output of the UMZCH can damage the expensive speakers of the speaker system. To protect them from direct voltage of any polarity, I propose a simple device (Fig. 1).

As a prototype, the protection device circuit of the amplifier "405" f. "Quad" was taken, but measures were taken to prevent spontaneous opening of the triac at a high slew rate of the output voltage, which happens in modern UMZCH. Additionally, a light indication of a fuse blown on a flashing LED when the protection is triggered has been introduced.

Non-contact loudspeaker protection. Loudspeaker protector circuit diagram
Fig.1. Loudspeaker protector circuit diagram

When a constant voltage of any polarity of more than 3 ... 4 V appears at the output of the UMZCH, the voltage at the terminals of capacitors C2, C3 increases sharply. The current flowing through the resistor R4, one of the diodes VD5, VD6 and one of the transistors VT1, VT2 opens the triac VS1. An open triac shunts the UMZCH output until the FU1 fuse blows. When it burns out, the HL1 LED starts flashing. Elements C1, L1 are designed to prevent unauthorized opening of the triac due to interference.

The fuse is selected based on the maximum output power of the amplifier and the impedance of the speaker system.

The device can use resistors of types C1-4, C2-23, MLT and others of appropriate power. Capacitor C1 - ceramic, types K10-7, K10-17, KM-5. Oxide capacitors C2, C3 - type K50-16, K50-35. Both of these capacitors can be replaced with one non-polar, while the diodes VD7, VD8 are excluded from the circuit. Diodes KD521A can be replaced with KD102 (A, B), KD103 (A, B), KD518A, 1N4148. The HL1 LED can be both blinking and permanently lit, for example, AL307, KIPD35, KIPD40.

Transistor VT1 can be replaced with KT503E, KT602, KT683, MPSA-43, 2N5550. VT2 is replaced by KT502E or any pn-p transistor from the KT6116, KT668, 2SA709, 2SA910, MPSA-93 series. As a triac VS1, KU208 with indices G, D or TS112-10, TS112-16 and others for an operating voltage of at least 100 V is suitable.

Choke L1 is wound with PEV-2 wire 00,68 mm - 75 turns on a thick paper frame with an outer diameter of 10 mm.

To check the assembled assembly, the fuse is temporarily replaced by an incandescent lamp with a voltage of 6 ... 12 V and a current of 0,16 ... 1 A. The assembly is connected to the output of a laboratory power supply with an adjustable output voltage of 2 ... voltage, according to the moment of ignition of the lamp, the protection threshold is determined. If it is no more than 10 V, then the node is suitable for use with automotive UMZCH. With the capacitance of capacitors C4, C2 indicated on the diagram, the delay in the operation of the protection will be about 3 s. If necessary, the delay time can be reduced to 1 ... 0,2 s by taking these smaller capacitors.

Structurally, this block can be placed both inside the UMZCH and in the AU. If the unit is installed inside the acoustic system, if the speaker contains a filler made of combustible material, such as cotton wool, it should not come into contact with the parts of the protection unit.

For a multi-channel amplifier, the corresponding number of blocks is assembled.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Spray that turns off the action of genes 22.01.2017

Don't like the color of roses in the garden? Do you want to speed up the ripening of vegetables on the field? Spray them with a spray that just turns off certain genes and you get the results you want. At least, scientists are currently working on such means.

Farmers can use these gene-switching sprays to boost growth, boost plant nutrition, and protect plants from drought or insects with viruses. This technique makes it possible to change the traits of plants without changing their DNA.

"The spray can be used right away, you don't have to wait years for the DNA to be modified or a new strain to be bred," says David Balcomb of Cambridge, who is studying gene suppression technology in plants. At the same time, one spray can be used on a wide variety of species and varieties.

Scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia have managed to achieve a long-term effect of turning off genes inside plant cells. They protected tobacco plants from the virus for 20 days with just one application of the gene-switching spray. This technique allows you to change various traits in plants, but scientists have not yet carried out such experiments, focusing on crop protection technology.

Turning off genes uses the natural defense system. When viruses invade cells, the cells cut out some of the RNA from the viruses to produce small double-stranded RNA samples that are used to recognize and kill any RNA that matches the sample. Without viral RNA, there are no viral proteins, which means that viruses cannot reproduce.

RNA interference can be used to block any protein. Attempts to create drugs based on this technology for humans have not yet been successful, since RNA quickly degrades when injected into the bloodstream. And it works in plants. The spray works like this: positively charged clay nanoparticles made from magnesium chloride, for example, bind to and protect negatively charged RNA. Over time, the particles interact with carbon dioxide and break down, slowly releasing RNA.

Plant viruses are a problem in agriculture around the world, and no current funds are directed directly at them. Farmers can either grow virus-resistant varieties, if such exist, or kill vector organisms like aphids. So if the anti-virus spray performs well in the field, then it can be in high demand.

Sprays that turn off genes will be safer than ordinary pesticides. RNA cannot penetrate human skin and is rapidly degraded in the body.
