The seeker is assembled on three bipolar transistors (Fig. 1). One of them (VT1) does not have an initial bias and works as a threshold device, an amplifier and a signal detector induced in the WA1 antenna by an alternating electric field of the garland network wire.

The collector current pulses of the transistor VT1 charge the capacitor C1. The voltage from the capacitor is supplied to the AF generator, assembled on transistors VT2, VT3 and operating in standby mode. As long as the field is present, the generator is working and a high-pitched sound is heard from the BF1 headphone. As soon as the field disappears (when moving to the neutral wire at the break point), the sound stops.

In addition to those indicated in the diagram, transistors VT1 and VT2 can be KT312V, KT315G, any of the KT342 series; the transistor KT361B (VT3) will be replaced by KT351B, KT352B or any of the KT209 series. Resistors - MLT-0,125, capacitors - MBM or ceramic. Sound indicator BF1 - capsule DEM-4m, TK-67 or similar, with a resistance of 50 ... 150 Ohm. Antenna WA1 - a strip of tin attached to the inner end surface of the finder housing. The power supply is a 316V 1,5 or equivalent element. Since the current drawn by the searcher when not in use does not exceed a few microamps, there is no power switch. The power supply has to be replaced after 1-2 years, so you can solder conductors to the source leads and connect them to the appropriate circuits of the finder.

The details of the finder can be mounted on a printed circuit board (Fig. 2) and placed with a power supply and capsule in a suitable housing.

As a rule, the searcher does not need to be set up and starts working immediately. If you need to increase its sensitivity, you need to install an M3 screw or any other metal contact on the case and connect it with a conductor to the negative terminal of the power source. Touching the contact with your finger, move the finder with the end where the antenna is located, along the wiring and lamps of the garland (of course, included in the network). Listening to the sound from the capsule, they look for the place where it disappears. Here is the error.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Triangle of death 29.10.2012

This is the name of an area in the Italian province of Campania, where mortality is increased (especially from cancer), as well as the frequency of genetic defects in newborns.

Recently, Italian geneticists from the University of Naples studied blood samples from 50 women living in the "triangle of death". It turned out that their endings of chromosomes - telomeres - are shorter than in women of the same age living in other areas. Chromosome shortening is usually associated with aging and the presence of strong oxidizing agents in the body. Both lead to an increase in mortality and the frequency of congenital malformations.

Scientists believe that illegal, improperly equipped hazardous waste dumps that seep into the air and water are to blame. There are 1630 of them in the area. It is believed that the local mafia, the Camorra, uses the proceeds from the illegal dumping of poisons.
