FACTORY TECHNOLOGIES AT HOME - SIMPLE RECIPES
Bleaching of bristle, horse and other hair. Simple recipes and tips Directory / Factory technology at home - simple recipes Here are the recipes bleaching bristle, horse and other hair. Sulfur fumigation bleaching This simple and common method gives good results. Before bleaching, hair should be rinsed well. Rinsing is done in hot water (40-50 °C) with the addition of soap or iodine for half an hour, after which the hair is rinsed with warm clean water. After washing, hair should not feel greasy to the touch. Whitening is done in a special room. Volos is hung on poles or laid out on Boards. Cups or pans are placed in the corners of this room, in which lump sulfur is placed. Sulfur is doused with denatured alcohol and set on fire. The doors and windows of this room are tightly closed, if necessary - all the cracks are smeared or sealed with paper strips - and the hair remains in this room for about 15-18 hours. Then the room is opened, and the sulphurous gas formed during the burning of sulfur is released. Until the room is well ventilated, it is impossible to enter it, since sulfur dioxide vapors are poisonous. In general, when bleaching with sulfur, you need to be careful. To be successful, the following rules must be observed. Hair hung in a fumigated room must certainly be damp, since sulfur dioxide does not bleach dry hair; the amount of sulfur should be approximately 8% of the weight of the hair. If there is an excess of sulfur, it does not have time to burn, sublimates and settles on the hair, forming yellow spots. If the bleaching was insufficient, it is repeated again in the same way. After bleaching, the hair is washed and dried. This method is cheap, but requires a special room. In urban conditions, it is difficult to perform. Bleaching with acidic sodium sulfide salt (bisulfite) 100 liters of water (8 buckets) are poured into a wooden vat and 3 kg of a salable solution of acid sodium sulfide salt or 1-1,5 kg of solid acid sodium sulfide salt are added. Hair is immersed in the vat and little by little, in small portions, 0,5-1 kg of salable hydrochloric acid diluted in the same amount of water is added. The hair remains in the vat until bleached. Hydrogen peroxide bleaching The bleaching solution is made up of 1 liter of commercial hydrogen peroxide, 1 liter of water and 10 g of ammonia. The hair remains in this solution until it is bleached, and the bleaching is carried out in an enameled, wooden or stone dish, since the presence of iron must be avoided. Bleaching with potassium permanganate salt (permanganate) This method is cheap, fast and, when done correctly, gives good results. Dissolve 75-90 g of potassium permanganate salt in 50 liters of water and add 17-20 g of sulfuric acid. Potassium permanganate salt can be used as an ordinary commercial salt, and the operation itself can be carried out in a wooden vat; the initial solution temperature is 35 °C, then lower. When the hair takes on a uniform brown color (manganese peroxide is deposited on the hair), it is taken out, rinsed in clean water and transferred to a bath of acidic sodium sulphide salt. In this bath, brown hair color quickly disappears. Instead of a sodium sulphide bath, it is good to use a hydrosulfite solution or a hydrogen peroxide solution acidified with sulfuric acid. Bleaching with sodium peroxide This method is expensive but reliable. To prepare a bleaching solution, dilute 5 kg of sulfuric acid in 50 liters of water (pouring acid slowly into water, and not vice versa) and add sodium peroxide in small portions. The liquid must be stirred all the time, and sodium peroxide is added until the acid is neutralized, which is recognized with the help of red litmus paper. While little sodium peroxide is added, the piece of paper moistened with the solution remains red. As soon as the sodium peroxide neutralizes the acid (litmus paper soaked in the solution turns blue), then the addition of sodium peroxide must be stopped. The hair remains in the bath until bleaching. Author: Korolev V.A.
