Liquid vegetable and animal fats (linseed oil, castor oil, blubber) when saponified produce soft soaps. In order to turn these cheap raw materials into suitable products for soap making and other industries, they are subjected to hydrogenation (saturation with hydrogen), due to which the oils take on the appearance and consistency of lard. These products are known in our country under the names “salolin”, “salmaz”, etc. and are cheap and commercially viable products for soap making. In Germany, such artificial solid fats are known as talgol (from whale oil), linolite (from linseed oil), talgit (from blubber), etc. These artificial fats are saponified with a weak solution of lye (not higher than 8-10 ° Be) and They make good solid soaps. Soaps made from such fats are creamy yellow in color.

Soaps made from hydrogenated fats and oils

The output of sound soap is 156-160%. these soaps are less soluble in water than those discussed above, and give a little foam. Their foaminess can be increased by adding vegetable fats, palm kernel oil, rosin, etc. To obtain a well-foaming soap, according to Stroudt, 5-15% of ricinolic acid (castor oil fatty acid) or the same amount of sulforicinolic acid is added to the finished soap. The addition of these substances is carried out after separation of the soap liquor or added to the soap already in the molds. Soaps prepared according to this method do not deteriorate during long storage and do not lose their ability to foam, and since, in addition, sulforicinoic acid gives the soap softness, it is possible that such soaps in the near future will replace more expensive soaps made from natural fats from the market. We place recipes for various soaps, tested in practice in Germany and gave good results (according to Straudt):

White sound soap

  • Talgol 40 kg;
  • Palm kernel oil 30 kg;
  • Groundnut oils 30 kg;
  • Linolith 50 kg;
  • Palm kernel oil 15 kg;
  • Groundnut oils 10 kg;
  • Fat waste of coconut oil 15 kg.

Semi-core soap

  • Linolith 20 kg;
  • Talgoda 10 kg;
  • Palm kernel soap 30 kg;
  • Fat of dead animals 15 kg;
  • Talgol 25 kg;
  • Bone fats 20 kg;
  • Fat waste of coconut oil 30 kg.

The cooking method is usual, but it is still recommended to first saponify the hydrogenated fats. In our conditions, linolite, talgol, etc. can be replaced by salolin and salomaz, but making soap from them still requires a special skill.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

How many people are in the car 03.02.2005

To force car owners not to drive alone, but to take neighbors as fellow travelers, thereby saving fuel, space on the road and reducing air pollution, the British road authorities have introduced a separate lane for cars with passengers on some roads. But it turned out to be quite difficult for the police to make sure that the "individual farmers" did not occupy this row.

Scientists from Loughborough University have created an infrared video camera and software for it, allowing a computer with a connected camera in a stream of cars to highlight those in which there is no one but the driver. The system does not confuse with the head of the passenger sitting in the car either the muzzle of a large dog sitting next to the driver, or the head restraints available on each seat.

Even if the driver, wanting to deceive the machine, puts his open right hand on the headrest of the seat next to him, the program will not mistake his hand for a person's face. The number of the violator is registered, and a receipt for the fine is issued.
