FACTORY TECHNOLOGIES AT HOME - SIMPLE RECIPES
Extraction of fragrant substances by infusion. Simple recipes and tips Directory / Factory technology at home - simple recipes Various methods for obtaining fragrant substances do not give such a delicate aroma and are not extracted as completely as with the method maceration, which is used by large perfume factories. With a low content of odorous substances or if distillation gives oil decomposition products, the maceration method is the most rational. This method is based on the ability of fats to greedily extract fragrant substances and give most of them to very strong alcohol. Depending on whether they use solid fat at ordinary temperature (refined lard) or liquid oil (olive oil of the best quality) for maceration of flowers, fragrant products are obtained, which are called either perfumed lipsticks or perfumed oils (fragrant oils). Do not mix these products with cosmetic pomades used to lubricate hair. Lipsticks are only intermediate products in perfumery in obtaining a pure odorous substance. Repeatedly processing fresh flowers with the same amount of fat, you can optionally obtain fragrant lipstick or oil with the smell of any concentration. The method of maceration is very simple. Salo is placed in porcelain or enamelled iron pots, heated in a flat vessel filled with water at a temperature of 40 ° C, at most 50 ° C, and flowers are hung in bags of thin linen in fat, in which they remain for 12-48 hours. After that, the bags are taken out, the fat is allowed to drain from them, pressed, filled with fresh flowers and hung again in fat. This operation is repeated 12-16 times or more, and thus fragrant nomads or oils of various strengths are obtained. The aroma is the thinner, the less time the flowers are in contact with fat. It is recommended to use a special apparatus to obtain odorous substances, which makes it possible to constantly contact the fat with the flowers. It consists of a tin-plated box, which is divided by vertical partitions into 5-10 compartments and is closed with a screw-on lid so tightly that no liquid can seep through. Partitions have holes at the top, then at the bottom. In compartments formed by partitions, baskets of tinned wire mesh are placed, filled with flowers intended for maceration; the lid is closed and the box placed in the water bath is heated to 40-50 °C. Then the tap located on the pipe is opened, and compartment 1 is filled from the vessel installed above with heated molten fat, which, rising into a basket filled with flowers, extracts aromatic substances from them, passes under the pressure of newly incoming fat through the hole into compartment 2 -e, comes into contact with fresh flowers again, then through the 3rd, 4th and 5th compartments and, finally, comes out strongly saturated with fragrant substances. More branches can be used as needed. After the entire mass of fat has passed through the apparatus, it is opened, the basket is removed from the first compartment, the basket that was previously in the 2nd is placed in the 1st, from the 3rd is rearranged to the 2nd, from the 4th to 3rd, from 5th to 4th. The first basket is emptied, filled with completely fresh flowers, and placed in the 5th compartment, thus each basket from the 5th compartment passes through all the others and advances into the 1st, which achieves a complete and rapid absorption of fragrant substances by fat. Instead of fat, you can use concentrated glycerin, which also very quickly extracts their aroma from flowers. From lipstick or perfumed oil, odorous substances are extracted with strong 90-95 ° pure alcohol, which dissolves odoriferous substances, but not fats. To extract fragrant substances from lipstick, when it cools, it is cut into small pieces and placed in bottles with alcohol. To obtain a large surface, a tin cylinder with a thin hole at one end is filled with lipstick and squeezed out in the form of a thin thread with a tightly fitting piston. In this form, lipstick, having a large surface, rather gives off odorous substances to alcohol. The solution of aromatic substances obtained after a few weeks is distilled off at a low temperature. No matter how long the fats with alcohol remain, they do not completely give off odorous substances, they retain a small part of them and therefore have an extremely delicate aroma. Therefore, they are marketed as a perfumed lipstick or oil under the name of the fragrance they contain, for example, orange blossom lipstick, lipstick or mignonette oil. They are highly valued as perfume products and are also used to extract aromatic substances. To extract aromatic substances from glycerin saturated with them, it is treated in the same way as fats, but not with alcohol, which dissolves glycerin, but with benzene, which also extracts aromatic substances.
