For the manufacture of a hectograph, first of all, you need to take the best grade of wood glue, having previously done the following test with it. Take a small piece of glue and dip it in water at room temperature. If the glue dissolves in water, then it is not suitable for making a hectographic mass; if it turns into a gelatinous mass, then the glue is suitable for making a hectograph.

500 g of such wood glue and 1 kg of technical glycerin are dipped into a new tin pot, in which there should not be the slightest presence of fat. First, glycerin is poured and brought by gradual heating to the point where steam rises from it. Then joiner's glue, turned into jelly by the action of water, is lowered into the pot, and the pot is again placed on the stove. Heating continues until the glue is completely dissolved in glycerin with gentle stirring so that air bubbles do not form.

When the heated mass turns yellow, it is poured into a flat zinc box with well-sealed edges 2-2,5 cm high and left to stand on a flat surface until completely cooled, and the hectograph is ready. If during the pouring of the mass from the kettle into the zinc box, bubbles form on the surface of the mass, they can be destroyed by holding a burning torch above them. If the hectographic mass came out too strong and the ink does not stick to it, then the whole mass must be melted again by adding 50-60 g of glycerin. If there is no good wood glue on hand, then it can be replaced with gelatin. To prepare the mass, 2 kg of gelatin is taken, which is dissolved in 3 kg of technical glycerin with the addition of 400 g of powdered talc.

We offer the following recipe for the preparation of a hectographic mass: 500 g of gelatin is dissolved in 3 liters of water when heated, during which 6 kg of technical glycerin and 500 g of barium sulfide powder are added.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Canon cameras will be assembled by robots 23.05.2012

By 2015, Canon plans to completely eliminate manual operations in its camera assembly plants. The company announced its intention to completely get rid of manual labor on its assembly lines, reports Associated Press.

It is planned to fully robotize the assembly of cameras, according to a spokesman for the company, Jun Misumi, within a few years. He refused to name the exact date, but called 2015 likely.

The purpose of this project is to reduce operating costs. Canon did not say how much savings they intend to achieve. The representative of the company added that they are not going to reduce staff - employees who will be exempted from manual operations will perform other duties in the company. Canon has already partially automated production, but people are still an integral part of it. The company is convinced that over time, robots will be able to independently produce some types of products, without human participation. The company did not indicate which products are in question.

Another Japanese company, Toyota Motor, is also working on fully automating assembly lines, not only to save money but also to produce higher quality vehicles, AP adds. The agency notes that new technologies, in particular, are used to assemble Lexus cars.

Canon is the largest camera manufacturer in the world. According to IDC, in 2010 the vendor owned 19% of the global market. In second place is Sony with a share of 16,9%, in third place is Nikon with a share of 12%. At the end of 2010 the volume of world deliveries reached 141 million devices, 10% more in comparison with 2009. Results of a research for 2011 the IDC company in open did not publish.

Revenue of Canon at the end of 2011 financial year which came to the end on December 31, 2011 decreased by 4% in comparison with the previous year to 3,56 trillion yens ($46,4 billion). Net profit remained virtually unchanged at 248,6 billion ($3,2 billion) yen compared to 246,6 billion yen in 2010. Like other manufacturers, including Nikon, the company suffered losses as a result of last year's floods in Thailand. The results were also influenced by the earthquake in Japan. According to the annual report, both disasters resulted in a decline in revenue of approximately 230 billion yen and operating income of approximately 120 billion yen.

In 2012, Canon does not expect a significant improvement in financial performance. Revenue growth is projected at 5,4%. Profit is expected to be at the same level as last year. Own forecast for the current year turned out to be lower than the forecast of independent analysts.
