Small brass thingssuch as buttons, clasps, buckles, etc. can be dyed golden red color rubbing with a mixture of 4 parts of washed chalk (in powder) and 1 part of gold leaf, moistened with water to the consistency of gruel.

Gold leaf is nothing but sulfuric (two-sulphurous) tin; it is similar in color to real gold and, like the latter, does not change from atmospheric influences.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

MAX17701 Super Capacitor Synchronous Charge Controller 16.09.2020

Maxim Integrated has released a new charge controller for supercapacitors. The MAX17701 is a high performance, high voltage synchronous buck charger controller for supercapacitors designed to operate over an input voltage range of 4,5V to 60V. It operates over an industrial temperature range of -40 to 125°C and charges the supercapacitor with DC current with +- four%. After charging the supercapacitor, the device regulates the open-circuit output voltage with an accuracy of +-4%. The output voltage is programmable from 1V to (VDCIN - 1,25V).

The MAX17701 Super Capacitor Charger Controller is designed for applications that require backup power storage with precision charging capability. It uses an external nMOSFET for short circuit protection on the power side to prevent the supercapacitor from discharging.

The MAX17701 is equipped with a Safety Timer (TMR) feature to set the maximum charge time allowed in Constant Current (CC) mode. It also contains a comparator that can be used, for example, to detect an output overvoltage event (OVI) and prevent the supercapacitor from overcharging. The MAX17701 is available in a 24mm x 4mm 4-pin TQFN package.

Key features:

Feature set optimized for charging supercapacitors:

Charge current regulation accuracy +- 4%;
Charging current measurement error (ISMON) +- 6%;
Voltage regulation accuracy +- 1%;
Programmable charge current in CC mode (ILIM);
Wide input voltage range from 4,5 to 60 V;
Adjustable output voltage range from 1,25 V to (VDCIN - 4 V);
Adjustable frequency from 125 kHz to 2,2 MHz with external clock synchronization (RT/SYNC).
Reliable operation in adverse conditions:

Input short circuit protection (GATEN);
Safety timer function (TMR);
Output overvoltage protection (OVI);
Overcurrent limit for each cycle;
Programmable EN/UVLO threshold;
Output Fault Monitoring (FLG);
Overheat protection;
Wide ambient operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
